Does emotion reside in the realm of private knowledge in the sense that is cannot be verified by others?  Is all private knowledge necessarily some form of emotion?  Is physical pain or hunger an emotion?  Can people be wrong about their own emotions?  Do people have, in some sense, exclusive access to their emotions or can others lead them to recognize previously unknown emotions?

Emotion is commonly regarded as playing a secondary role in the areas of knowledge, as previously they were seen as mutually exclusive mental processes, and cognition was perceived as being the superior way of thinking. Cognition is believed to be a process of information, analysis and knowledge formation, contrasting to emotions which either played a very little or no role in the cognitive process or was too influential that emotion took over, in other words brought chaotic or irrational elements into the process, which overrides the facts and truth. Whereas if you have a bad experience at the beach, for example being knocked over by a wave, you would always have that experience in the back of your mind when reminded of the beach.

This example would be in private knowledge as, not everyone would have the same experience as another. In this case, other’s opinions and their emotions would not have that great effect as your emotion is what is related to you and your own experience. But is emotion only in private knowledge? Take the Hussini case for instance, the Howard government was set on Hussini being a terrorist, that even after he had been cleared of the charge, the government still forced that he was a terrorist. Different factors and experiences play parts in how your emotions are for certain ...
