Terms of reference: What do we mean by the terms leisure and recreation?
The definition of the term ‘leisure is’ ; the time available to us when we are not doing other essential activities, e.g. working, sleeping, and eating.
Recreation is the activities we choose to do within our leisure time.
The term Recreation can then be spilt in to two different categories; being active and passive activities. Passive, being when we receive entertainment by other peoples activities for example watching television, reading a book or listening to music.
Active being participation involving significant mental or physical exertion for example sports, DIY, gardening and walking.
Again these categories can split into two more categories home based activities for example watching television and listening to music and away from home for example going to the cinema or going to a restaurant.
Leisure Facilities are defined as places where you can pursue your recreational facilities. These again can be defined in to specialised ( being specialised places such as the ice rink) and natural features such as countryside walks and mountain hikes.
Terms of reference: What do we mean by the terms public, private and voluntary sectors?
The term sector and whether it is defined as a public, private or voluntary is to do with who actually finances the facility itself. A public sector is paid for by the local council and or government grants given to the local council. The local council put these facilities there for us to use to enhance Bracknell and make it a more interesting place to live.
A private sector is a place or facility owned by a private company (which is personal loss personal gain) or a PLC (public limited company), which mean the public, can buy shares in the company. Private sectors are there to make money not for the enhancement of Bracknell.

South Hill Park is about 7 minutes drive from Bracknell Town Centre in the Birch Hill area, easily accessible from the M3 (Junction 3) and the M4 (Junction 10). The centre itself is very well signposted.
The original mansion of South Hill Park was built in 1760 for William Watts for his retirement from service as a senior official of the Bengal Government.
In 1963 South Hill Park was included in an extension of the new town designated area of Bracknell and the Bracknell Development Corporation acquired the property. The house was let in 1965 to Ferranti Limited, who used it as offices and laboratories until early 1972 when proposals for its adaptation as an Arts Centre with an additional theatre were agreed with the intention that the immediate surrounding gardens, lawns, trees and two lakes shall be preserved. South Hill Park's position as one of the largest and most enterprising arts facilities in the country.
South Hill Park offers a popular all-year-round programme of music, drama, film, dance, literature, exhibitions and arts and crafts workshops of all kinds. You can also enrol to do an art classes/course run privately.
The venue also hosts the annual Bracknell Festival of jazz, folk, blues, rock and traditional music in its building, lawns and gardens.
