Replication and backup details
DHCP database will be automatically backed up to the directory of systemroot\system32\dhcp\backup\jet\new. DHCP will performs a consistency check of its database and attempts to fix any errors every time when DHCP service starts or thereafter periodically.
WINS database replication has been configured on both WINS servers in this network. It provides fault tolerance for NetBIOS name resolution. Therefore, if one of them fails, the other one continues to provide the WINS service on the whole networks. The two WINS servers are configures as the pull/push partner to each other. The replication will take place everyday in midnight and midday when the network traffic is not very heavy, or when 10 changes to the WINS database appears. This configuration will get a balance between network traffic and databases synchronization. (For details of WINS replication, please refer to WINS configuration.)
To provide DNS fault tolerance, two DNS servers are provided to host the zone of hongling.com in the network. The primary one contains the standard primary zone database file and the secondary one contains the secondary zone database file. Zone transfers are configured to replicate the zone database file from the primary DNS server to the other one. The secondary server will request for new data when refresh interval reached, and the primary server will notify the secondary server to update when changes happen. (For details, please refer to DNS configuration.)
