Job Analysis

Kudler Fine Foods is a local upscale specialty grocery store with three locations in the San Diego metropolitan area. As a growing company, Kudler has restructured the  organizational strategy and “developed and implemented a new customer service strategy that would enable associates of the grocery store to be considered front line customer service agents” (UOP, 2009). Now, the organization must create a Human Resource Plan.

The first step of this plan will include a job performance profile of each of the six positions within Kudler’s stores: Store Manager, Cashier, Stock Person, Specialty Department Worker, Department Manager, and Bagger.  In addition, this plan will discuss the approach used in analyzing each job and dividing that job into specific tasks, how the compensation of each job aligns with the new strategy and will enhance performance, and include how human resources employs job analysis to implement organizational strategy. (UOP, 2009)

Job Performance Profiles

“A job performance profile is an evaluation of a specific occupation, and it summarizes the key concepts that are essential to the overall job performance” (Hobdy, 2012), including responsibilities, qualifications, job outlook and potential salary (Hobdy, 2012).  The following positions will describe such factors:

A store manager must have organization skills, pay attention to detail and ability to follow through.  This person should be able to manage multiple priorities, have the ability to delegate, coach, train, recruit, and effectively communicate. (Waters, 2012)  In addition, the store manager should posses a college degree in business or related field, and have experience in the retail environment with supervisory experience.

The compensation of a store manager can vary depending on the sales volume and store locations.  The base salary can vary between $25,000 to $65,000 for a store manager, with a benefit package and bonuses based on the overall store performance. (Waters, 2012)
