Introduction

The film industry is an extremely big business where millions are spent producing a film, a film which will only be shown in cinemas for a few weeks after its premier screening. Promoting a film through posters, promotional events, trailers and merchandising are essential to its commercial success.

The theme of my GCSE coursework project is ‘Movie Marketing’. The situation is that a major film production company is to launch a brand new film in the UK. The success of the movie will greatly depend upon the marketing and advertising of the movie. The production company’s need is for promotional materials to support the launch of the new film.

I will begin by producing a detailed ‘brainstorm’ of all the possible ways in which the movie could be advertised.

Questionnaire

I will now carry out a survey to discover what encourages people to go see a film and find out how they are affected by promotional material. Below is a copy of that survey.
