The Costs of Business Activity
- What do we mean by the price of progress? Give an example.
The price of progress is the costs and benefits a company has to pay in order to expand the business or carry out a new venture. A good example of a controversial business activity is the Glastonbury Festival. There are people who benefit from it and people who suffer as a result of it. Farmers suffer in the sense that their livestock are threatened but they also benefit from the money of the land lent to the festival. There is a huge debate amongst local residents and the police and other people involved as to whether going ahead with the festival is worth it.
