How does the director of “Friends” use the opening titles to promote a successful situation comedy and encourage the viewer to continue watching?

The program ‘Friends’ is one of the most popular programs in the world. It is shown in every English speaking and other countries. Friends are translated into another languages.

Everybody boys DVDs and videos so that is why the actors get a lot of money (about 1000000$ per episode) The program is especially aimed at teenagers and young adults., but it can be watched by everybody

Genre is the type of programme, Friends is Sitcom (situation comedy), others are not so successful like ‘Will and Grace’, ‘Fresh prince of Bel-air’ and British ‘Only fools and horses’, ‘My family’, ‘Mr. Bean’. Sitcom can calm you down, cheer up, help in situation or just laugh with your friend, that’s why they are so popular.

In the openings of the Friends there is dancing with umbrellas near fountain and in British sitcom ‘Only fools and horses’ there is old fashion music with photos shown so it is not so attractive than Friends to the viewers. In opening titles in Friends there information about characters by showing a short clip of them and in ‘Only fools and horses’ there is just a moving pictures of characters

The theme song to ‘Friends’ is called ‘I’ll be there for you’ by pop group ‘The Rembrandts’. When I hear the song, I feel happy. This is because I remember one or few episodes of ‘Friends’ and its jokes I feel different after the song. Images and music are shown together because music is based on situation that the best way that you share with your friends.

So, no one told you life was gonna be this way, --- The viewer doesn’t expect that life isn’t like you planed.
