Her habits also influenced me, she always told me, not to waste things when I was little. The food she liked to eat, mostly I liked it too.
When I was only in nursery sometimes I was a little naughty girl because every afternoon we had to go to bed and sleep. I remembered one afternoon when everyone went to sleep only me couldn’t get into sleep. I was trying not to annoy anyone but after two minutes I gave up. So, I started annoying the girl who was in the next bed from me. Then she called the teacher and I was in trouble and she was very angry “ Lily I told you not to disturb anyone when it’s sleep time. Do you not understand me?” I was so ashamed by what I had done so I said “ Sorry Mrs.” Then she said “ I already told the class that if anyone was going to break my rules, then they have to stay behind, and let their parent come and collect them. So Miss Li, you have to stay behind after the sleep time.” I said “ Yes, Mrs.” At the end of the sleep time I was still lying on the bed when everyone was getting up and going home. During this time I was thinking how I was going to tell granny what happened, surely granny was not going to be pleased about what I had done and at the same time I was very ashamed of myself. Granny went into the room and she was talking to the teacher. Then the teacher said “ Miss Li, you can get up now and come to here after you tidy up. I was tidying up as fast as I could. When I was finished I walked to Granny where she stood. It surprised me that she didn’t say anything or made me feel that I was bad girl. She just took my hand and we walked home. She tried to move my mind on other things, but I was still disgraced by what I had done. So she said “ Don’t worry Lily, if you know you were wrong, then remember next time don’t do it again ok?” Her voice was so soft and her kindness so gentle I couldn’t ever forget. After this I tried to be as a good girl as I could. That is all include her effort by teaching me a treasure lesson.
My granddad also has had a great influence on me. When I was in primary one. I had started to learn piano. Whenever it was rain or snow my granddad would always take me to the piano lesson. Sometimes when I was practising my piece, my granddad would come and join me in the music world, we would just talk about which bit is wrong, and which bit is good and which were the songs he liked, until granny would call us to dinner. His sprit affected me and touched my heart. He let me know, “Don’t give up your aims, always go for your aims and study hard.”
My grandparents always told me that only 1% is your talent, 99% is your hard work.
Both of them have had a great influence on me. Whenever I was little or in my future. I think I had the greatest grandparents in the world.
