Character Description

        After spending a year in juvenile prison Carsen returns home struggling with the ineffable question of “Who am I”. He walks down the cruel, violent and drug abusive streets of his home in Manhattan. He walks and reminisces as he sees naive leaders emerge. He saddens at the excitement of violence and glamour that lours boys in. Familiar faces surround him, but no one would recognise the battered up leader who was once their superior.

Prison aloud Carsen the time to think, something that he hadn’t done for years. He though about how he got caught up with the glamour’s of his gang. He had whatever he desired, untouchable was what the called him. He obeyed and in return lived without a care in the world. He always wanted the easy way out. He dropped out of school and quit his job. Carsen wanted more and that is what he got the day he joined a gang. For once in his life he felt like he belonged, as if he was apart of something.

Everyone blamed Carsen’s mistakes and faults on his parents. Although his parents died when he was three, their death from a drug overdose had a great impact on him. Carsen lived in foster care ever since that incident. He was very distressed and troubled there, but after what happened, no one could blame him for being so. His only friend was a girl named Rosemary who struggled with the same insecurities as he did. He confided in her until she was also taken from him.
