To: From: Tahmid Ali Date: Friday 18th March 2011 Subject: Report on types of communication (LO1) Type Communication Introduction A group of friends and I have decided to make a small business known as 'Beyond The Scoop'. I have now been asked to create a detailed report on the different type of communication. ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION Video Conferencing Video conferencing is widely being used as the rise of technology is improving. Video conferencing is basically a direct video interface in which both people can see and hear each other. It is used in large cooperation as it requires a lot of money to acquire the equipment for video conferencing. HSBC have recently been using Video Conferencing as they have a range of banks all around the world. They use video conferencing in order to talk about propositions and other matters without the need of travelling. Video Conferencing will reduce a great deal of expense as people no longer need travel to far distances to meet. This means people would be more flexible to communicate to other people with the comfort of talking from their own home. On the other hand, video conferencing requires a lot of money for it to run properly. Since you need high internet speed to have a stable video conference and high internet speed require more money. Furthermore, the equipment itself and can add up to the

Home page design

Home page For the title of my home page I have decided to put it in WordArt. The WordArt title is the name of the surgery, which is "PARK VIEW VETERINARY SURGERY". I haven't decided what WordArt I am going to use yet so I will state the WordArt, which I will use when I am making and implementing the actual web page. For the font of the text I have decided to keep it in "Times New Roman" as it will be easy to read. For the text size of the WordArt I have chosen to keep the size as 36 as it will be a good size for a title so that it won't take up too much space. For this title I have decided to put all of the letters in capitals, as it will stand out more. Also for the font size of the title I have decided not to change the size of the font, but to change the sizes of the WordArt by changing the dimensions of it separately as it will be easier to judge what size to make the title. Also for the title I have chosen not to have the title in any extra options such as bold, italics, or underlined as I think that it will look better quite complex but yet simple at the same time. Another thing that I have chosen to put in my home page is that I have selected to have no shadow for the title as it takes up more space and I think it looks better without it. This meets the needs of the user as it clearly states the name of the surgery so people viewing the website will see the name of

Computers in Financial Services

Financial Services Personal and business customers need to be protected with their financiers, this is the reason why there is a legislation taken out called 'Financial Services Act 1986'. This is a recent regulation on UK companies. The 'Financial Services Act 1986' deal with acts, practices or course of conduct likely to defraud or deceive investors. Only authorized investment businesses have a statutory right to advertise or promote the sales/purchase of investments. The reason why this legislation was taken out was because say for example, if an financial advisor gets commission on certain investments then he/she may advise investor on taking out wrong investments as they gain commission even if it mean the investor looses out on a lot of money. So therefore the investor must state all the possibilities in investing in certain investments. Over the last few years ICT has developed a great deal. Within half a century, computers and information technology have changed the world and affected millions of lives in ways that no one could have anticipated. ICT is transforming the ways in which we learn, communicate, do business, enjoy out leisure and live our everyday lives. A typical network must have four things besides computers which are a set of communication rules to make sure to make sure that everyone speaks the language(Protocol), cards that plug into the back or side of the computers and lets them send and receive messages from other computers (Network interface cards..NICs), the medium to connect all the computers together(Cable) and the hardware to perform traffic control(Hub). The Larger Area Network spans a relatively small area. Most LANs are confined to a single building or group of buildings. This type of network can be found in schools, buildings or homes. Most LANs connect work stations and personal computers, each individual computer in LAN has its own CPU which executes programs but it is also able to access data and devices anywhere on the

How ICT has affected my life at home or school

How ICT has affected my life at home or school In this task I will give details about how ICT has affected my school and social life. I will include my use of software like Microsoft word, internet, email and Lime wire. These programs have helped me on my class work and homework and they have also helped me keep in touch with my family and friends and also have improved my social life. There are many other uses of ICT like USB Flash Drives, mp3 players, and DVD's. My Social Use Microsoft Word Processor ICT has helped me in so many ways to make my social life easy. To improve my letter writing I use Microsoft word processor which is software that enables people to input a piece of writing. This software has assisted me to improve my home work with the help of different tools. I get pleasure from typing up work as it is a lot easier and neater than writing with a pen. If I wish to add a different piece of work then I can do so without hesitation just by copy and pasting. If I make a mistake then the computer will automatically underline my mistake and will give me the choice of correcting it. Although at times the computer will not recognise a few words. Microsoft word processor allows me to align my work for example if I am writing a poem then I can centre align, if I'm writing a letter then I can right align. As well as writing I can also add pictures to my work by using

Comparing documents

Comparing Documents My second task is to compare a few different documents of three different organisations, the three organisations are: . JJ PC 2. Wessex Water 3. Coffee Control JJPC sells computers, Wessex Water is a water company and Coffee Control is and internet café. I have to annotate the three documents, describe the content and layout, comment on the differences, similarities and finally come to a conclusion of each document. The documents that I will be comparing are: * Questionnaires * Newsletter * Memo * Invoice * Business Letter * Poster My first document that I will be analyzing will be the three questionnaires. Comparing Questionnaires A questionnaire is a form containing a set of questions. JJPC's logo has been placed in the top right hand corner and it is orange, their logo is just simple and bulky, in my opinion I think that this is great because the audience will be able to see it as it should be seen. Coffee control have two logos one on each side but it is very small, their logo has a picture of a mug in it, which is black and gives the customer an idea of what the questionnaire is about. The colour of coffee controls logo is turquoise and white. Wessex water has only one logo which is in the middle and at the top of the page it is in blue but it isn't that clear because it is uncertain. Personally, I think JJPC's logo is the most

Web Page Creation Report

Assignment 5 - Unit 3 Web Page Creation Report In order to create my web pages, I used a program called FrontPage Express. This allowed me to create web pages without learning the language they are written in, HTML. To start with, I created a new directory for the website to go in to. I did this by clicking on File>New>Folder. I then renamed the folder just created to Computerstore. Into that folder, I created five more folders, and renamed them Images, INP, OUT, MPU and STO. These were for the four different sections of products and for the images. My next task was to create the index page. In FrontPage Express, I created a new page by clicking on File>New>Normal Page. I then right-clicked on the page and selected page properties. I could then change the background colour. After I found that none of the preset colours were suitable, I created a custom colour by entering different amounts of Red, Blue, and Green until I found a colour that I liked. I then added this to the custom colours list so I could use it on the other pages. I then set all of the text and hyperlink colours to black so that all the text on the page would the same colour. Whilst I was in page properties, I added the page title that would be shown at the top of the browser by typing the title I wanted into the title box. With the properties set how I wanted, I could lay out the page. I wanted to add a

Most people have access to the internet Now meaning that they can send e-mail to anybody in the world for example you can meet people over the internet and then get to know them better by E-Mailing them. You can use e-mail to buy things of the Internet anything from a Television to a new car. In this project I will investigate how I can communicate with people by using different methods. Ideas Of Task For my Project we have to solve a problem through communicating, using computers. The problem could be anything; the main ideas are openings of clubs. For example communicating to people, through computer means, about a new opening of, say a new football club. This is not the only choice though; you could just make a presentation, for say pupils who are starting secondary school, telling them about the secondary school, its teachers, and the facilities. We have to communicate ideas to a decided audience, it could be advertising, or simply information presented in either a presentation, or website. Chosen Idea The problem, which I have chose, is that a company wants to make more Kung-fu clubs around London because they feel that the area is not exactly safe for children to go out by themselves, and so children need to learn how to defend themselves. The company needs to get
