Data flow diagram

Data flow diagram A customer orders some videos from Eddies store. All customers are given 30 days credit. The customer is looked up on the customer file, and if they are a new customer, then their details will be stored there so then they can return to buy more videos. He can have contact numbers and address or addresses to claim his videos back if they are overdue, so he knows who has his videos. The order is entered in the sales order processing system. The price of the video and length of rental will be looked up from the stock file. An invoice is printed and given to the customer along with the video just so they know how long they have it for and what the price is. This is just a bit of evidence so they don't get overcharged or undercharged. Details of the sales are stored in the sales file so he can see what is happening with the sales of each and every one of his various types of videos. At the end of each month the accounts department prints statements to send to all member and customers. A report of overdue videos is kept in the accounts department and one copy is also sent to the customer obtaining the video. Below is a table with all of the processes, inputs and outputs that I have based my data flow diagram on. Project Input Process Output Video shop system Details of video members, details of video and loan returns Query to find overdue

Information technology - Shop systems.

Specification Background to the topic: I visited my local video and music store and after an interview with the manager I suggested there might be a better and more efficient way to manage their records. The better way would be to be to use a computerized system through the use of excel. My main task would be to create a new system which would be much better than their current system at organising records and storing records. The main reason for me choosing a video, and music shop was that these days people would rather spend a certain amount of money on buying a certain video so that they can watch it at their will instead of having to pay a certain amount of money on going to see the film in the cinema and paying a certain amount of money whenever they wanted to see it. The business is currently located on Wembley High Road. It currently employs 30 members of staff but Statement of Problem: The old system was a very basic and simple system where the person on the counter would write in a book the name, format and amount of the video and then he would write the member name and member number of the person renting the video. The customer would then sign the book. However on more than one occasion the book got lost and the store lost thousands of pounds in lost videos and faced a very big battle with the IRS over tax and audits. The video store had no way of making a

The model of phone is Sony Erricson, for me it is easier to use than any other phone as it's stylish and simple, for example if I need to use the alarm, all I have to do is go to my shortcuts with one button and click the alarm on and edit the time. But it does have its advantages and disadvantages, e.g. the advantage of using the technology personally is that I can text, call and play games where as on the other hand the disadvantage is that it can have no signal, meaning that

Column A has a data type of Text as the customer names are stated and Column C is set as data type Number as numbers are included. To work out the cost of labour, a formula was used. This was =SUM (B2*C2). Then, for the rest of the column to be worked out, drag down the fill handle from D5 to D9 and the results should automatically be worked out. To work out the total bill another formula was used. This was =SUM(D5*F5). Then, for the rest of the column

Being a 6th former

Being a 6th former The common stereotype of a 6th former is one that is portrayed as a person that generally does no work. An example of this is the BBC's production of Grange Hill where the 6th form at this school are never involved in any work based scenes, but instead are seen in the common room chatting and generally doing nothing. This idea is very wrong. In addition, I will do my best to correct your view. Many young people my age were un-certain what lay ahead after the 2 year GCSE course. The options that lay ahead were many. All seemed to have their advantages, some had disadvantages. Me as an individual was very reluctant to go out and find employment, and college did not seem appealing. Nothing seemed appealing except The ' easy ' option. - The 6th form, and without having to make any new friends and without having to fill heaps of forms this was the option for me. My memories as a Year 7 seeing 6th formers swan around as if l they owned the place had soon vanished and the bundles of free time that I dreamt of sitting in the renowned common room playing cards/pool/darts and drinking coffee had gone. I like a huge percentage of my year were in for a shock. The free time turned out to be less than a few hours a week, and the Pool table and dartboard were none existent. I had been surprised - but not pleasantly! However, I gritted my teeth together and got on

Identify Terence Findlay.

Identify Terence Findlay Problem Pantry Pride Pizza Delivery is the best pizza delivery and restaurant in the East Sussex area, which is run by Mr. David. Mr. David has a problem with his staff and the orders. Because the restaurant is the best in the area it is very busy, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings and there are no computers and the staff take the orders and addresses to deliver to down with a pen and a piece of paper, so sometimes the orders got mixed up or the wrong orders were written out or sent to the wrong house and when it came to calculating the prices the staff found it very hard to work out total prices and take off the discounts, and they had to copy the receipts by hand and they often get lost during the delivery. Considerations of the solution to problem The pizza delivery could get a computer right by the phone so that the member of staff who picks up the phone can type in the information and add up the prices and take off the discounts on computer and this would be neater so the people can read it and it would be more accurate so they would charge the right price to customer and deliver the pizzas to the rite people. Another solution is to hire more staff and to insert more phones for the busy nights like a Friday or Saturday so that the staff

An I.T. System for an Estate Agent

The aim for this coursework is to design a new system for an estate agent called Claytons. The database will be designed to hold information about the properties such as number of bedrooms, garden size and price. Currently the company is using a filing cabinet to keep the current data, this takes up a lot of space and it is hard for the workers to access or alter the information. I will need to design a solution for this problem, my system has to be fast and easy to use, and the information should be clear and easy to change. I will need to find out how the staff are currently using their system and I will need to see if the new one will be easier and faster. The company currently files away all of its documents in a cabinet which contain all the information about the houses that are for sale or rent. They're all organised by the area that they are in. If any customer asks about buying a house but doesn't specify the area but also asks for something else, all the files have to be studied to find a house meeting the information asked. If information about the area is given then it is a bit easier because only houses in that area have to be searched. Searching for the right houses can take hours because a lot of files have to be searched. House prices are constantly changing and it isn't possible for the company to manually change the prices for each house. When

Identify stage of Database Coursework Model Agency records

Amit Singh Bhopal 10B STRiDE models Database Identify Background Details Jenny has recently opened a Modelling Agency. Since there are no other businesses like hers nearby, commerce is booming. Firstly, the modelling agency advertises in the yellow pages. The potential models then ring up and arrange an interview. The interview is arranged and completed and then the model pays a fee for a photo shoot ( £200) the modelling agency then records all of the models details (name, age, height, weight, hair colour, eye colour, nationality and address manually using paper and pen to create a seperate record for each model) and then the model's file is stored in a filing cabinet. The model's details are stored in the cabinet until a client requests a model that matches with a specific set of attributes. The secretary then searches for the models that have the right attributes and makes a list. When the list has been created, the secretary phones up the client with the various models and an agreement is reached over the model(s) that are most appropriate for the shoot. These model(s) are then sent a letter to them by post with details of the location time and date stated. The letter is made using an electric typewriter. If the client decides on a particular model, they are notified of the booking. If the model agrees to do the shoot, a reply (either a phone call or a letter) is
