In the first place, people have to work more hours and earn a considerable amount of money to be able to afford one. Car-owners have to pay much money for petrol or gas and taxes, insurance and sometimes pay a ticket. They are expensive to run, too. What is more nowadays prices of gas are getting higher. Not to mention how much people have to pay if they have an accident.
Furthermore, the large amount of cars has led to an increase of noise levels in city areas. In addition the quality of life in our cities is made worse because of cars. An example of this is air pollution which is the cause of having such technologies as cars. Also there are traffic jams all the time which makes a lot of inconvenience.
There is another side to the issue of owning a car. People who own cars are always worried about cars being stolen or damaged. In order to cope with this worry they have to install expensive alarm systems and, to make matters worse, car-owners have to avoid areas of the city where cars get broken into or stolen.
On the other hand, traveling by car around the world can be a kind of fun and also an experience as is more comfortable than using public transport because they are less cramped and have luxuries such as an air-conditioner. It is common belief that people can feel relaxed listening to music thanks to a sound system which is installed inside a car.
For the above mentioned reasons, therefore, I believe that nowadays owning a car enslaves people. Ever since the creation of a car itself has became a symbol of advance and an excellent invention. Cars allow us to move faster, to transport items – because of its capacity and to travel anywhere and anytime we want. It is my belief that life would be much harder without cars, but people should become aware of some drawbacks and start use it properly.
