Museum of Science and Industry of Manchester has a lot of differences from Malaysia museum. This museum is more well organize and they categorize it in five different buildings, the main building, the 1830 warehouse, the station building, power hall and air& space hall. The main building includes textile gallery, special Titanic exhibition gallery, xperiment, collection center, Manchester science and printing gallery. The 1830 warehouse building includes warehouse of the world, electricity gallery, computers gallery, futures, and the english tea: our shared heritage, planters' and drinkers' stories. The station building includes the making of Manchester, underground Manchester, national gas gallery, Liverpool& Manchester railway exhibition, collected cameras and community exhibition gallery. The power hall building includes steam power, trains and road transport. Lastly, the air& space building includes aircraft and out of this world. In the textile gallery, you can get to watch some museum presenters explain and operate the thunderous historic cotton machinery and get to watch yarn being spun and turned into cloth every weekend. In Malaysia, I do not think you can get presenters showing you how an old machine was being operated or how something was being processed in the museum. So, it was a really great chance that I was able to watch it in real life.
Museum of Science and Industry of Manchester facility is extremely great. The museum takes very good care of its visitor and provides them their basic needs. It provides disabled access for disability people, restaurants for visitor to get their foods and drinks when they need a break, free network for visitor to get access to the internet for free, toilet and baby changing room, site guide, activities for children and gift shop for visitor to buy some memorable souvenirs.
As a foreign student in Manchester, Museum of Science and Industry of Manchester has gained my knowledge in many aspects of learning and let me understand the history and development of Manchester better. One of the knowledge that I have learned is most cotton packing warehouses were located at Whitworth Street last time, a street where I walk pass by everyday to Manchester Metropolitan Business School from my hall. I did not know any history about this street before, until I took a visit to the museum. I was really enjoyed looking at those pictures, video clip, models and tools in this museum and I believe you couldn’t find it or see it at anywhere else anymore.
This museum is really worth for visiting and you do not have to pay any amount of money at all because it is free entrance for everyone. You can gain knowledge, know more information about Manchester in a short time, see rare objects, which will widen your eyes, and enjoy the good facility of and through the museum for free. I will definitely share those knowledge, pictures and stories of Manchester, which I got from this museum, to my family and friends in my home country and recommend them to visit this museum if they ever come around to Manchester. I really like and in love with this museum and I do not think I have any bad feeling towards this museum at all.
