Personal Attributes
Many of the implied terms involve the personal attributes of an employee, such as honesty, behaving responsibilities and observing confidentiality. These attributes are as important as every organisation including them in express clauses too, to make sure that there is no misunderstanding. There are some attributes that every business, every employee has to show. Personal presentation relates to every employee as well as their personal hygiene. This is important because dressing not properly will effect on our customers satisfaction. Verbal Communication skills relates to speaking with senior member of staff or colleagues. This is important because every employee needs to speak to other people form senior managers to their own colleagues in the organisations, as well as external customers and on telephone. Written communication skills needs to be good so that messages can be clearly understood. This is important as some organisations send emails to customers. Email should be clear with no grammatically errors and should give a good impression. Following instructions need to be followed as this is an important attribute that an employer needs it. Punctuality and time planning means turning up on time every day. This is important because you use your time effectively and always you do your important task at first. Courtesy to other people, both your colleagues and external contacts is vital. Honesty is not just stealing money, but also means act truthfully not saying one thing to someone’s face and another behind their back. This is important as well because employer will trust on you. Observing confidentiality is an implied term of your contract and is often included as an express term as well as being part of a code of conduct.
Philip Markham
In Philip Markham staff are doing different jobs roles in different departments, but they all contribute to produce men’s clothes. This is because staff in Philip Markham work according to their personal attributes and strengths. Managers in Philip Markham manage their departments according to their strengths. All staff got jobs according to their strengths and attributes. E.g. Finance manager has good skills in calculation and cash flow.
Kidsco
In Kidsco staff also contributes to produce woman and children’s clothes. They also do their jobs according to their personal attributes. In Kidsco Managing Director manages the whole business and only have Finance Manager, Admin/IT Service Manager, Operation Manager and HR Manager. Marketing and Sales have a separate team. All the staff do their jobs and contributes to make clothes. E.g. Marketing and sales team contribute to sell goods and provide good customer service. Team working is more important in kidsco because operation team have purchasing team, despatch team and production team within the one team as apposed to having separate departments within the production area as they do at Philip Markham. So they place a higher emphasis as needing to be part of a (less formal) team then Philip Markham does. All these teams contribute to produce clothes.
Personal attributes are important because they are relating to the person and the company reputation. This also relates to person that how they acts, how they dresses, what time they arrives and how they speaks to customers. This will show how they use their personal attributes. Personal attributes are important in both firms because both are business organisation and in any organisation attributes are needed to make the business successful. In Philip Markham all departments work in formal way. Employers and managers at Philip Markham need verbal skills because manager would need to talk to the Employees to give the instruction in both companies. Employees would need verbal skills to the question and verify when they don’t understand. Written skills are also needed in Philip Markham as most of the staff especially managers they would need to write reports and formal documents and if they didn’t have good verbal skills then they would struggle to do their job successfully. In Philip Markham every department work formally.
Team working is another important aspect in business. This relates to a group of employees that how good they work. How accurate they work and how they solve their problems. According to organisation chart employees works in mixed teams and their personal attributes. The managers in Kidsco meet regularly in both ways formally and informally. Each team has a leader and all team leaders are responsible for keeping their own team informed. All team members are encouraged to contribute to the development of their teams with ideas and suggestions. In Kidsco all teams work informally.
