ICT Solutions for individuals and society

ICT Solutions for Individuals and Society For this unit I am going to try and find the answer to the enquiry titled "Has increased TV coverage affected the attendance of live sports events" As I have more of a interest in this than I do in the other possible questions. To do this I am going to use a variety of online and local sources. Task A In this task I have to search through search engine for information, which will help me, answer the above query. I will use three different search engines to help me do this, which are as follows: www.google.com, www.ask.com & www.lycos.com. I am using three different ones to broaden my range of answers so I can have more information when I come to sum up all the data at the end. I will also use three different types of searches which are: simple, phrase and logical operators. To do this I am going to have to find information on attendances for different sports, as well as the viewing figures over the past few years for the same sports. A lot of the hits which are produced will not be relevant as most of the searches will produce thousands if not millions of responses, and only ten of them might be relevant. After I have looked at all three search engines I will decide which one produced the bets hits, which I will then use for the rest of the unit. Simple Search - Google The first hit that I got was the one linking me to the

The growth of the Internet as a pop cultural medium poses a danger to youth. Teenagers could seriously end up getting hurt online without them realizing it. Online web pages such as MySpace can seriously harm teenagers. It could lead to dangerous online predators, horrible health problems, and it can be very addictive. MySpace is a perfect website for predators to prey on teenagers. It is simple for predators to manipulate and trick teens into thinking that they know them or a friend of theirs. Predators make contact with teens through conversations in chat rooms, instant messaging, e-mail, or discussion boards. Teens can easily post enough information about themselves to be abducted. An online predator looking at the teens page has enough information to arrive at their door. Some teens use peer support online forums to discuss their problems and predators often go to these areas to look for victims. They gradually try to seduce their targets through kindness, affection, attention, and even gifts. Predators devote a lot of time and money to this effort. They usually know the latest interests of teens. They also listen to and sympathize with the teens problems. Then gradually introducing them to sexual content during their conversations or by showing them sexually explicit material. Therefore, the internet can lead to trusting complete strangers, who are predators and sharing

The class A drug Ecstasy; this curtain drug is taken on twenty-five millon occasions a year which is half a millon a week as a result of this, there are five related Ecstasy deaths per year. I got this information from the Nicholas Saunders article. In the year of 1995 Leah Betts was one of the unfortunate ones who died by taking Ecstasy. Although very few people have died by takin the drug Ecstasy there are some on rare occasion who have died, for example the story of Leah Betts who died serveral hours after taking the drug Ecstasy. A while after Leah died her parents teamed up with the media and filmmakers to lunch a canpaign called 'Sorted'. This was a canpaign tellin you about the dangers of the drug Ecstasy. They made a video, which was then sent to many schools across Englang telling the younger generations about Ecstasy. The video started with the famous song 'Wonderwall' by Oasis playing, I believe they played thi because it was Leah's favourite song. While the song was playing everybody that played an importance in her life all said something possitive about her. They told us that Leah was a very happy, caring, loving person and then we were shown still photos of her childhood and short video clips where she looked ver happy. "Digital Media is having a big impact on many things in this age. Examine and analyse the impact of digital media on our culture".

CMT2046: Essay "Digital Media is having a big impact on many things in this age. Examine and analyse the impact of digital media on our culture". Before examining the effect that Digital Media has on society and indeed western culture, we need to discover what the term Digital Media actually means... Just what is it that distinguishes Digital Media from previous forms of combined media? It is the fact that the bits that represent text, sound, pictures, and so on can be treated as data by computer programs. A computer program is able to control the order in which various components are presented and combined, and can do so in response to input from a computer user. In other words, Digital Media can be interactive, in a way that, for example, a TV news bulletin is not, and that goes far beyond the simple control afforded by a VCR. Digital Media is a term used to describe any computer application that uses more than one type of output medium, such as text, graphics, video, animation or sound. Strictly speaking, the term 'media' is the plural of 'medium', just as 'data' is the plural of 'datum'. Digital media has two states: Static and Dynamic. Static digital media are items, which do not have the capability to do something, move or react with the environment, for example, text and graphics. Dynamic digital media consists of audio, video and animation, which all have

Consequences of New Media Technology

CONSEQUENCES OF NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTION * It's become commonplace to divide the media into "old" and "new", neatly corresponding to analogue and digital technology. * Under this handy dichotomy, the old media (print and broadcast especially) represent mass marketing and mediocrity. * Conglomerate ownership and economics of scale have produced mainstream, profit driven programming. * Variations occur at the margins, certainly, but even their collective impact pales before the market share of newspaper chains, publishing empires and the assorted television, cable and entertainment giants. * In contrast to these old-media oligopolies, the new, digital media - fuelled by desktop production and driven by global, networked distribution - seem wildly democratic. WHAT IS MEDIA DEMOCRACY * Traditionally, many discussions of media democracy have focused on the right to freedom of expression or freedom of speech. * Yet although free speech is still a right denied in many places across the world, concentrating exclusively on this aspect has obscured issues more fundamental to media democracy and much more relevant to new media technologies. Voice Projection * Media democracy is much more than being able to say what you like - it is about voice projection and making yourself heard. * While new technology has made it easier to publish your own media, it is becoming

Report for multimedia presentation.

Report for multimedia presentation Topic chosen The topic I have chosen for my presentation is after school activities. I chose this topic as I am very interested in what the school has to offer to people who enjoy other activities outside of school. Also I participate in a lot of these activities so I had a very good understanding of how they have developed and achieved. I also think that all students should be aware of what extra curricular aspects the school offers as it helps them to learn how to work as a team and get to know the rest of the students better. Choice of application I have chosen Microsoft power point to present my presentation as I am familiar with this application from other assignments and therefore I have a good understanding of how to use it. It is also very time efficient when presenting information to an audience as you do not waste time changing overheads. Also images, graphs, sounds and diagrams can be added which makes it more interesting to watch. Microsoft power point allows me to import images from discs and also the internet to use in my presentation, which is very helpful as clip art does not have all the necessary images I may want. The slide show allows me to choose how I want to design the slide and what information I want to be entered. It allows me to choose the timing of the changes in the slide and what effects I want added.

My first idea is to promote a relatively new punk rock band ODD.

Brief My first idea is to promote a relatively new punk rock band ODD. The band has been around for about 6 months and would like to get noticed and would like some way to promote themselves to the public. The band would like to be recognised by young teens mainly also to older teens/young adults. Any other age range would be a bonus. I have decided to create a music video with some back up advertising, or a piece of music endorsed by a celebrity, product or another media (such a film or a TV series soundtrack) in the form of an advert or short movie clip. Both choices must be of interest to the age range of 16-21 year olds and possibly slightly younger to even older. The product must appeal to both genders (although only males tend to be interested in punk rock) I have decided to make a music video for ODD as I believe this would be the best way to get to the public and the easiest way to publish one amazing song to promote the band. Plan of action I aim to create the video and accomplish my goal by: * Researching other music videos currently in the media using both primary and secondary data * Conduct a questionnaire on the bands manager and a variety of ages about what they like to see in music videos. * Conduct a client interview with the band manager to get more detailed specifications. * Research different types of things to put into the video based on the

The Internet also has the ability to expand, introducing new technology and developments e.g. WAP mobile phones, these phones allow the user to access the Internet from their phone. Users can also send and receive e-mail through their mobile phones. At the moment this is only available on certain phones, but more and more companies are investing in WAP phones, as they are aware of the future of mobile phones. Due to the popularity of the Internet the older forms of media such as television, newspapers and magazines have had to change to compete with the Internet. Newspapers and magazines have completely changed their images, now they consist of more colour, more pictures, more eye-catching headlines, and more
