         The House of Commons is the lower house of the Parliament of the UK.  The Commons currently consist of 650 members, both from the elected governing body and the opposition. MPs consider and propose new laws, and government policies can be scrutinized by asking ministers questions about current issues either in the Commons Chamber or in Committees.         In the House of Commons there is a setting for the exchange of views between Government and opposition. Each week on Wednesday afternoon the prime minister must come to the House of Commons to answer oral questions for half an hour. This is an effective check because when minister have their question time the opposition should be ready to criticize and demand answers.
