Planning a spreadsheet database for a gun shop.

Name: Haseeb Ali Choudary Candidate number: 3038 Center number: 11043 GCSE ICT spreadsheet coursework IDENTIFY Identifying the problem: My sister Lisa is the new manager of a small independent Gun shop located in Brighton, which is called BOOMtings it has been running for 10 years now and is a thriving business as any other shop in the market. This shop sells the latest guns at reasonable prices. BOOMtings have an acceptable amount of customers and the shop is earning a reasonable amount of money. Problem: The current system is manual and makes life difficult for my sister so I will be trying to fix it. As my Sister hired me to help out with the accounts, I have found some problems which are: finding the calculations of how many Guns they have, how many they sell over a period of time and the amount of profit or loss that was made weekly or monthly This problem is caused because my sister Lisa is completely unorganised and is always losing important files and scraps of paper, which means she has no idea of what is going on with the company's financial situation. Suggestions: As I am very advanced in software designing and accountancy, I am the best man for the job. I would say the best way to solve this problem is to get a laptop for my sister Lisa, so that we can get Microsoft excel or Microsoft access. I thought it would be a good idea to produce a spreadsheet

. Suitability for purpose: It was met as it will be obviously decipherable by the user. The main theme of the website is based around the environment and such is shown by the theme/house-style used. The purpose of my website was to make others more aware of environmental issues and this was covered clearly and linked to from the 'Equipment' page for every piece of recycling equipment. Another purpose of the website is to allow those who do not already own any of those pieces of equipment to easily acquire it - this was engaged with the viewer by using a different, larger font size which, when clicked on, will link the user to an external website. The final purpose of the website is to make youngsters aware of global issues and how these can be assuaged. This purpose was successfully communicated by the use of simple words, images and an animation, aiding understand. 2. Suitability for audience: The likely audience of the website is diverse. Evaluation, Application & Effects

Evaluation, Application and Effects . Compare using ICT to create your system rather than creating it by hand. Using ICT makes producing the presentation much easier. This is mainly because you can change, edit and move things at a touch of a button without having to completely redo the piece of work. You can add colour and special effects using specialist programmes, making it look unique to other presentations. Also if you did it by hand, if you made a mistake, you would need to cross it out which would make the look less impressive and professional, but using a computer you can easily correct it and it will still look perfect. Also if you want to reproduce a leaflet it would be extremely time consuming whilst on a computer, it would be simple. When producing a leaflet by hand, I would probably use a template to make straight bigger letters, and write all the information by hand with a medium-sized pen. For the photographs, I would print them immediately from the computer, onto photographic paper and then cut the pictures out. I would then glue the photos onto the paper in suitable place. This could then be photocopied to be reproduced, in either colour or black & white, and these could then be made available in the Health Centre. 2. Justify your use of ICT to create your system for the Health Centre. Using ICT makes producing the presentation much easier. It is

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A COMPTERISED AND MANUAL SYSTEM:- * Computers take up less space, filing cabinets are not needed. * Searching for records is quicker on the computer. * More than one person can access data at the same time from the network pc. * The data stays within comp memory won't get misfiled or lost. * Fewer staff are needed to look after the computer system * Reports can be generated very quickly- by an automated processing routine rather than manually. * Cabinets take up lot of space. * Searching for records takes long time. * Setting up a computer system is very expensive. Big systems in large organisation cost millions. * Computers need people to maintain and use them. * Training costs are high and money is wasted if a person leaves. * Computers are not perfect, if there is a system failure or power cut then important data could get corrupted or lost. * It can be easy to copy files and so remove confidential information of the system. The system has to be kept secure from unauthorised user's and hackers. * Need to employ clerical staff to look after filing system. * Reports can be written only, they have to transfer information by hand. * It is time-consuming and there are chances of human error. * Only one person can access the data at the same time. * Computer's are faster and manual work is very time-consuming. * It is neater and

I want to design a database that will allow faster and easier sales of cars, it will also help organise them too.

Contents page Section Page > > > > > > > > Car Database project I want to design a database that will allow faster and easier sales of cars, it will also help organise them too. Before I design a database I need to find out what information I will need to include in my database, to this I will produce a questionnaire, which will be sent out to several garages in my local area. When I get the questionnaire results I will then design my database around the wants and needs of other garages I am going to produce a database that will allow salespersons to use a PC to speed up the search process for the customer. If the customer is searching for a particular type of car, i.e. make, model, mileage, year of manufacture. The database, which I have created, will allow the sales person to search for a car meet the customer's requirements. I am doing this because it will be much easier for the salesperson to find a car, which will meet the customer's requirements. Implementation You must use the software to process and store data entered from the questionnaire for required output. You need to produce a report, which describes in simple steps how you created the database using the selected software. This will match your design. Printouts and screen shots are required and the data has to match the data collected from the data capture sheets (one from each

ICT project - record system.

GCSE ICT PROJECT MICROSOFT ACCESS STUDENT MARK RECORED SYSTEM WRITTEN BY SUBHAN ALI IDENTIFY Identify the User There is a geography teacher known as Mrs Knight and she works at Kingswood Primary School. Since she has been there, Mrs Knight has kept a record of all her pupils' marks in a register starting from years 7 up to 11. But the problem is that she cannot gain enough information about them, however, accurate and organised the records are. E.g. if a student receives a mark for his exam in a percentage it would also be helpful if the mark they actually received, was visible on the records, this would allow Mrs Knight to observe if a student is progressing or actually getting on with his/her work. Also she would like to see a particular students grades individually without other students marks being visible e.g. on a parents evening she would like to show the students mark but without having to see any other students marks in the record book. Manual Solution Considered One solution Mrs Knight could use is by manually adding a few more columns to her record book, and work out the pupils average by hand and note them down, she would then be able to make a list of the average grades and keep an individuals grades private from being visible to other students. Two Alternative Software Solutions Considered The first alternative solution Mrs Knight could use would

It shows that the video database is in this folder. To access it just double click on it using the right mouse button. 6. Then another window will appear and you have now accessed the video databases. This window appears and shows all the things available on my data base. The table: The table is the main design point for the database. You decide what field names and what special checks should be done into the database to reduce the amount of mistakes. To view the table form of the database you click on which table you want to view (video table, video taken out table or the member table click on the label that says TABLES and then double click on what table you want to see. (Diagram on the next page) Then a table appears showing all the records in that file. Below is the table for
