WHAT FACTORS AFFECT THE RESISTANCE OF A WIRE?
PLANNING
The experiment I am carrying out is to see what factors affect the resistance of a wire.
Some of the variables that could affect it could be: -
- The amount of electricity.
- The type of wire.
- The thickness of the wire.
- The length of the wire.
- The temperature of the wire.
- The conditions that the wire is in.
After consideration I decided to choose two variables
- The length of the wire.
- The type of wire.
I chose two variables because I would get a wider range of results.
To make it a fair test I will try to keep certain conditions and variables the same. I will make sure the amount of electricity is the same, that the wire thickness remains the same and I will try to keep the conditions in the surrounding environment of the wire the same. Also I will do the experiment a number of times so that I can take an average reading of the results. Also to make it a fair test I will let the wire cool down between each reading so the temperature of the wire will not affect the results.
