Business Planning - set up a business.

TASK 1 In order to achieve my course in Business Planning, I've been asked to set up a business. My chosen business is to set up a tea room in the high street of Smethwick in Birmingham. It has come to my attention through market research that in Britain, 165 millions cups of tea are drunk everyday. Hence, I've realised that in my area, it seems to be lot of young people aged 16-24. So I come up with the idea of a modern tea room. A modern tea room is a room where people come to have a cup of tea or coffee, sometimes with a sandwich, snack or some soft drinks. I expect my potential customers to be young people aged 16-24, but also some adults from 24 and above. My location as stated above is the High Street of Smethwick. I decided to choose This because it's a commercial area and attracts a lot of people, as it's the main road used by people to commute to work, school and other places where ever. It's also a central zone, which link businesses, schools, and the central market to people's houses. One of the strongest reasons of choosing this location is the fact that there is a lack of businesses that offered hot drinks, as mostly they are located in the City centre and some tourists sites. I would offer hot drinks: tea of different varieties, including iced tea, decaffeinated teas, fruit and herbal tea. I would also add as accessory products coffee, hot and ice cream,

This makes it harder than ever to know which product to choose for your dog. The Environmental Working Group at Johnson & Johnson took samples from dogs and discovered that the animals were polluted with many of the same chemicals that humans are which makes sense, considering our pets live in the same environments we do. One way to take some steps to make our dogs healthier is to switch to natural pet care products. Many of us have already switched to natural shampoos and soaps, getting rid of all the ones with questionable chemicals. Now it is time to do the same for our dogs! Crime in Britain during the war

Question 3 Oliver Latham During the years of the Second World War the British Isles were a hub of activity; factories churning out munitions and people working the land for a 'better more efficient' Britain. But was this new found patriotism just a façade to cover up more unlawful activities. Statistics show a significant increase in crime during the war years but this does not necessarily reflect the British people as a whole. Looting was allegedly a big problem in large towns or cities where possessions were taken from bombed out buildings. Source G conveys this point as it focuses on the subject of looting during a bomb raids by AFS officers. The officers are shown to have stolen a number of valuables from a bombed out house including jewellery. This source is useful and reliable as detailed research into war crime had been undertaken before making the source. However it is an entertainment film so some details must have been dramatized. Other evidence supports Source G. For example records of the time that describes twenty cases of looting of which 'ten involved members of the Auxiliary Fire Service'. There were also reports of a 'black market' trade in fake AFS uniforms where looters would pose as officers so that they could loot homes. 'Our Sergeant says loot as much as you like

Health and beauty partnership with Oasis.

HEALTH AND BEAUTY PARTNERSHIP WITH OASIS At the last managers' meeting it was agreed to invite external franchise operators to submit tenders for setting up their franchise operations within each of our stores. I am pleased to report that Oasis have been successful in attaining the franchise and they expect to commence "moving in" as soon as is practical. All their products are made from natural ingredients without chemical additives and the products are not tested on animals. As many of you may know up till now they have confined their sales to mail order and the occasional craft fair. All their packaging has been in brown wrapping paper. Oasis is now trying to expand by setting up outlets in approved shops and it is going to up its profile. Their range of health and beauty products will be sold initially at our Exeter shop under their "Oasis" brand names, however the overall scheme will be marketed under our name. We will be monitoring this operation very closely and are aware that sales of their products might detract from our brands. It is a distinct possibility that Oasis will add some of our products to their list and they will be marketed under the Oasis label. In the meantime we will carefully monitor the sales of the Oasis products in order to see if they do attract custom and to see how they affect the sales of our own brands. Human relations in the business world.

Human relations in the business world People live in a society, in which every person interacts with each other, and people are always under the influence of human relations. Human relations play their important roles in different social environments of the society, so human relations can be defined in different terms. Today, I focus on the human relations in business organisations and market. For any business organisations, the market can be divided into internal market, external market and interactive market, and human relations are involved in all the three markets. As in different markets different parties are involved, such as customers, employers and employees, human relations can therefore be defined as internal, external and interactive human relations in business organisations and market. In order to operate business effectively and efficiently maximising the profit, business organisations should deal with all of them properly and carefully. External human relations are the most traditional relationship between organisations and customers, which most of people should be familiar with. Customers are the consumers, and they purchase tangible goods and seek intangible services all the time; organisations are the producers who produce goods and supply services to satisfy their customers as much as they can. The external relations between organisations and customers

St.Leger Harley Davidson.

INTRODUCTION St-leger Harley Davidson is based in Doncaster, it is an American based retail motorcycle store aimed at providing a full range of sales and services of all products manufactured and supplied with the official Harley Davidson brand name. Harley Davidson decided to become a private limited company because it was easy and inexpensive to set up and because there was two directors they would be able to make decisions easily, quickly and chose who they wanted to be shareholders. Harley Davidson would also be able to keep control easily of the entire branches world wide, this is important if they wish to protect how the brand is used and portrayed. The main disadvantages of becoming a ltd is there is a lack of capital due to no share issue and there is no benefits from the economy of scale, (e.g. bulk buying, cheaper buying etc). OBJECTIVES ? 1.TO INCREASE THE MARKET SHARE. -Harley Davidson aim to increase the market share because they know that the higher their market share the more recognisable they will become (you can always identify the major market leaders) and the more profit they will receive. ? 2.TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE BRAND NAME. -The more people that recognise the brand name the more customers that Harley Davidson will get, it may also boost reputation and encourage people to become part of the Harley Davidson lifestyle and increase the market

Product Life Cycle

Product Life Cycle Businesses decide to introduce a new product when sales when sales of existing products are declining. A new product can increase market share by either appealing to a different age range to its main target or by appealing to everyone because it is new. For example, products such as televisions or computers are constantly changing due to updated technology, therefore newer products are more highly demanded, and therefore it is easier to market to market them. By saying that the product offers newer technology and better designs, the customers are immediately drawn towards it. Introducing a new product to any business is expensive, and runs a risk to the company. This is because even before the new products is created; the research and development department has to research into the needs and wants of the consumers. If they fail to do this all correctly, or if another rival firm brings out a similar or better product, then all the money spent on research and even advertising would have been wasted. If this were to happen, the business would have to consider making staff redundant or declare them selves bankrupt! Every product has its own life cycle, and there are four stages of this life cycle, illustrated on the graph below: A. Research and Development B. Introduction C. Growth D. Maturity E. Decline Point A is the point before the new product is
