Explaining what an organisational structure is, going through organisation chart and giving examples of different kinds of organisational structures.

Task three - organisational structure In this task I will be explaining what an organisational structure is, going through organisation chart and giving examples of different kinds of organisational structures. I will also be going through a chain of command and give an example of one. Organisational structure An organisational structure is when employees are grouped into functional areas, which relate to their job, so that people doing similar jobs work in the same area. These areas are then linked in an overall structure. In a large organisation you are likely to find more functional areas than in a small or medium- sized one. The way in which an organisation is structured is shown on its organisation chart. Organisation chart An organisation chart is a diagram, which shows the structure of the organisation. It shows the job titles of employees and their relationship with each other .At the top of the chart are the more senior staff. They have more responsibility than those lower down. * Horizontal links on a chart show staff who work at the same level of each other and who relate to each other. * Vertical links on a chart show the staff for which a particular manager or supervisor is responsible. Jaguars organisation chart + Above the organisation chart shows where certain people should be for a certain job .It also shows who is responsible for which jobs or

Organisational Structure In this section I will explore the organisational structure of Sainsbury's, and look at how the chain of command, span of control works within the organisation. Moreover, I will look at how communication is passed down effectively through the hierarchy. Firstly I will actually look at the organisation chart for Sainsbury's PLC a whole then my local Sainsbury's Ilford's organisational chart. Sainsbury's Plc - Has a tall structure a they have more authority over each other. Sainsbury's Ilford - Has a flat structure as there are more subordinates to have control over due to the store workers. An organisation structure is a formal systematic way a business is organised. It is usually presented as a diagram and it shows the department functions and who is answerable to whom. The organisation structure is very important to all whom are applied to it. This is because important information has to be passed down. For it to be passed down there has to be a link of communication to the senders and receivers. This is achieved by the communication flowing up or down the hierarchy. An organisation chart makes this easier as it clearly shows the hierarchy within the organisation, so that communication can be made more effective as their will be less chance of confusion to where you will send information to your sender. Moreover, if the business is well

Organisational Structure - Business

Kasia Organisational Structure. Organisational structure - a hierarchy chart which shows the arrangement of management, authority and communication; it also allocates and determines to which extent power, roles, responsibilities, duties and rights of the particular business or department are delegated; as well as how the information flows between the different levels of management. Organisational structure strictly depends on the business' objective and the strategy used to achieve that objective. In a centralized structure, the decision making power is located at the top of the chart, followed by tightly controlled departments and divisions. In a decentralized structure, the decision making power is distributed and departments and divisions have varying degrees of laws and autonomy. Gantt Chart Basics.

Gantt Chart Basics. Gantt charts are a project planning tool that can be used to represent the timing of tasks required to complete a project. Because Gantt charts are simple to understand and easy to construct, they are used by most project managers for all but the most complex projects. In a Gantt chart, each task takes up on row. Dates run along the top in increments of days, weeks or months, depending on the total length of the project. The expected time for each task is represented by a horizontal bar whose left end marks the expected beginning of the task and whose right end marks the expected completion date. Tasks may run sequentially, in parallel or overlapping. As the project progresses, the chart is updated by filling in the bars to a length proportional to the fraction of work that has been accomplished on the task. This way, one can get a quick reading of project progress by drawing a vertical line through the chart at the current date. Completed tasks lie to the left of the line and are completely filled in. Current tasks cross the line and are behind schedule if their filled-in section is to the left of the line and ahead of schedule if the filled-in section stops to the right of the line. Future tasks lie completely to the right of the line. In constructing a Gantt chart, keep the tasks to a manageable number (no more than 15 or 20) so that the chart

Organisational Structure

ASDA is a hierarchical structure because it has a lot of layers and also a lot of people reporting into more than one person before that information get to the boss. What is a Hierarchical structure? A hierarchical structure has many levels. Each level is controlled by one person. A hierarchical company tends to be a very big company just like ASDA is. In a hierarchical instructions are generally passed down from one person to another until it gets to the bottom of the hierarchical structure. If there was a problem in a hierarchical structure it would move up through the structure again from one person to another until it gets to where it is supported to be. Strengths of a Hierarchical structure In a hierarchical structure there is a close control of workers. Workers in ASDA will know exactly what they have to do so they don't wait around until they are told what they have to do. There is a small span of control. A span of control is when an amount of people report to one person. Also there is a better chance for promotion. Weaknesses of a Hierarchical structure In a hierarchical structure information is slow moving. There may be poor communication between departments. Also workers may not feel involved in the business and they may not feel motivated to work. The types of communication used in a Hierarchical structure The type of communication used is hierarchical will

The school have noticed that different amounts of drinks are sold during different weather conditions, and so have asked me to account for this by calculating the most suitable prices for each type of weather. I will have to keep the following factors in mind when creating the price chart: * It will have to show the minimum profit available to the school * The price chosen using the chart much cover the total cost of Sports Day * We must account for the money given by Helmcroft Hall and the ice cream van, and deduct it from the over all profit total. * There must be 5 different spreadsheets, one for each weather condition with the prices altered accordingly. * It must be easily updated for use in the following years * The prices chosen must be payable (i.e. they need to be integers) * The chart should ensure that no money is lost and not too much is gained. * The price range of a hot drink must be 55p -
