Youtube Video Analysis - comparing a Health and Safety video and one promoting Glasgow University.

The first video I viewed was a health and safety video produced by Electricity Alliance aimed at their male employees. The video is encouraging employees to work safely and follow the correct safety precautions. The second video has been produced by Glasgow University to encourage students and parents to choose this particular institution of higher education. Both videos have been broadcasted on the popular internet site youtube.com, the following list shows advantages and disadvantages to this particular way of broadcasting. Advantages * Anyone with access to the internet can view the video * Youtube is the number one website for video sharing, so anyone that uploads a video already has a large audience. * Any particular person or company can broadcast their video on the site for free * If the video becomes popular the company/person that uploaded the video doesn't have to worry about Bandwidth (the amount of space available for transferring information from a website to a user's computer) as youtube doesn't have a limit. Disadvantages * Anyone that uploads a video to youtube loses control on where specifically the video will be displayed on the site. * Youtube displays similar videos around the particular video being played; in the case of the University video other university's advertisements will be displayed. * One video has a limit of 100mb * All youtube

I.T Coursework -Analysis.

GCSE I.T Coursework -Analysis Software to be used I will be using many different website to do with my sport each site contains a lot of information about korfball and how it is played. The programs that I will be using are mainly Microsoft word and the Internet. I don't think that I will need to use excel or PowerPoint. I will need to use FrontPage so that I can format and eventually make a website. This program helps a lot because it gives the information and the tools to make a reasonably good website. To be able to take pictures I will also need a digital camera so that I can put them onto the computer. Hardware to be used I will obviously be using a computer because this is an It project. I will also be using a scanner so that I can scan pictures or text onto the computer for easy access and it takes less time than writing out all of the text. A scanner will also be useful because I have a lot of leaflets on korfball and the scanner is the obvious choice for getting the pictures and text from the leaflets to the computer. I will also be using a printer so that I can print out the work that I do. Also I may use a digital camera so that I can take photos of people playing korfbal if I cannot find any suitable photos on the Internet. I will also be using a digital file to store all of the photos that I take with the digital camera. Data to be used The reason that I

How Well Does Morwellham Quay Show Devon’S Industrial Heritage?

DALE EDWARDS HOW WELL DOES MORWELLHAM QUAY SHOW DEVON'S INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE? Morwellham quay was once the most important copper port in Queen Victoria's Empire but now it is a public museum reminiscent of the once great mining industry. The old town fell into ruins around 1900AD when Britain found it cheaper to by copper than to mine it and so it fell into ruins. Now it has been restored by the Tamar Valley Trust and is run and supported as a museum. Because of its appearance it does not conjure up the image of its once significant place in mining. Some of the buildings that are left have been restored and some have been left as a ruin though none actually show how the port was described in the video, a port of a few hundred metres is now a silted up riverbank, 3 houses to show how all classes of people lived bustling in the streets on the way to the mines, school or shops. From the video Morwellham quay has lost its magnificence in size, importance and glory. There are only shells left of the houses once built to incorporate a self-sufficient mining town. The ports once built are now silted up and overgrown taking any indication of a port that had more ships a day than Plymouth, the only thing that would give it away without being told is the mooring poles. I will now discuss my experience of the informacy of the museum. The video - this was the first contact we had

Which sources of knowledge—books, web sites, the media, personal experience, authorities or some other— do you consider most trustworthy, and why?

Which sources of knowledge-books, web sites, the media, personal experience, authorities or some other- do you consider most trustworthy, and why? Eva Schreuder In this essay I will be looking at the above statement in relation to the problems of knowledge, using where appropriate my experiences as a knower1. To ascertain as to whether which source of knowledge one can claim to be the most trustworthy one would have to define them all first. The proposed sources are: books, websites, media, personal experience and authorities. When talking about books I would think that one was talking about non-fictitious books, for fiction would not be reliable as fiction is writings about events that have not really happened, something imagined or untrue2. The definition already says that the facts or things written in such books are un-true. Books I think are reliable only when one looks at encyclopaedias. Yet with the books one always has to be careful with who writes it. The author may have a biased point of view that will influence the information in them. The land of origin also is some thing that one needs to be aware about. If the book was written in a country at the time where a dictator was controlling what was being published, then the "real" truth wont come out, therefore it is important that one looks at more than one book to get a broad view of what happened. Books mostly

The virtual world of internet.

Argumentation Essay Home Places The Virtual world of Internet The Internet is the largest source of information in the world today. Almost everyone does e-mail nowadays, but there's also chat, message boards, interacting with web sites, online games, even imaginative role-playing. With its web sites and chat rooms, everyone has a means of communicating with people in places all over the face of the earth. One may discover something new about his companion's personality and interests. And his companion may discover something new about him. The Internet has basically changed the principles of social behavior; it has completely changed the definition of appropriate and inappropriate, what is socially good enough and what is not. People have the full freedom to decide who they want to be on the Internet community, therefore, may even project a false personality, and there are no rules to oversee if this is wrong. While socializing online people can act in a way that is socially objectionable in the physical world, and can still remain concealed. Studies have revealed that there may be a concrete form of compulsion involved with over-use of the Internet. While lost in this so called 'Cyber Community' for long periods of time, people may be overlooking other important activities like, time with the family, socializing, work and health concerns. The Internet and physical world

Basic of web page design.

Basic of web page design Im am going to analyse a music group website, the website address is www.rolldeepcrew.com and its all about a band called roll deep crew. Its all about a crew from the underground of garage that like to make there own version of music. This is what the front page looks like: From the front page it look professional there's a little intro that you can either choose to watch or skip. This is good as you can clearly see where you have to click if you want to get rid of the intro. The videos good as it doesn't take all day to load and it shows what roll deep crew is all about, making music. The colour of the front page its vivid colours this shows that this music is underground garage and its all very dark and secret. The right is bright white so it stands out more, which is good, as you don't need to concentrate to find the words that you want. Then when you get on to the front page there is a list of headings, which you can choose from: Home Chat room Forums Ring tones Pictures Guest book Contact us Audio Lyrics (still being developed) Info These are the main links that the people who view the site use so these are the bits that are updated as soon as it's out of date. Producing an entertainment website for teenagers.

Usman Khan Practical Production Commentary Evaluation Media studies Planning Our task was to design a website for a chosen target audience. My aim was to produce an entertainment website for teenagers. The reason why I choose to have teenagers as my target audience is mainly because I am a teenager myself so I would understand what code and conventions to have in my website. The research that was needed was: > What categories to have on the website > What colour scheme people like best > The name of the site To make the research successful I made a survey for the audience to fill out, we choose only to hand the survey out to people around our age group. I choose to hand out the survey to 20 people. The survey also had to stand out and look professional so that people refuse to do the survey. I thought that designing it on a computer would make it look professional. The results that I received from the survey: > The favourite colour schemes: Blue and black- 8 people Blue and White-8 people > The favourite 3 categories for the website: Music, sports and games. > The favourite name: E-zone I had encountered one problem with the results I got from the surveys. I had to choose between the games page or a gossip page. I choose the games page because I thought that it would attract more people. We also had to make a decision on what the content of our pages
