Projectile Motion

.0 Introduction In this project, it was decided to use home-made air launcher propelled by air to observe projectile motion. The air launcher is made from plastic water bottle and the air is released in an instant as soon as the air launcher is blasted off. The air launcher is in a projectile motion as soon as it is blasted off as the only force acting on it is gravity. Data such as flight time, range, highest point and others will be collected to determine the constant of gravity acceleration. Three different materials: rubber, plastic and aluminium, have been used as specified in the requirement of this project. The mass of each material is different but the surface area that is in contact with the air is constant. As the mass of each water bottle is different, the launching pressure for each water bottle is different. Pressure is directly proportional to the launching velocity. To achieve a constant launching velocity, the pressure used has to be varied accordingly. In the experiment, the behaviour of the projectile motion is different from the theoretical prediction. The water bottle will travel less horizontally or vertically. The effect of air resistance will slow down the bottle while it is on its course up. The direction of air resistance is acting in the same direction of the gravity, thus the water bottle is brought slower at a faster rate. On its way

"Intention to create legal relations could be used to replace the doctrine of consideration. There is no reason in principle why a gratuitous promise seriously meant should not be enforced."

"Intention to create legal relations could be used to replace the doctrine of consideration. There is no reason in principle why a gratuitous promise seriously meant should not be enforced." Critically evaluate this statement. Before looking at if the intention to create legal relations should be used to replace consideration, it is important to look at how these doctrines fit into the essential elements in a contract. Their use will then be discussed, together with the doctrine of promissory estoppel. In evaluating these principles reference will be made to case law, judicial comment and of leading contract academics work. Finally, thought will be given to the future of consideration, and if it is still necessary today, when so many other countries have adopted alternative approaches to ensuring that contracts are binding. In the formation of contracts two elements are vital. Firstly, the "offer," an indication by one person prepared to contract with another, on certain terms, which are fixed, or capable of being fixed at the time the offer is made.1 Secondly, there must be an "acceptance", an unconditional assent to a definite offer.2 These two combine to create certainty that a contract has been formed, for, as in Scammell v Ouston (1941),3 "if an agreement is uncertain on some important issue...the courts will hold there is no contract."4 Following this, the elements

Media Production Evaluation "Six easy steps to create a band" AIM The topic with which my Media Production dealt with was amateur music Band's and how to start one. I decided upon this topic as I believed it would be quite interesting documentary to film because there are many different sections that need explaining and so this allows for a lot of scope when filming. My main aim was to provide my audience with a committed info-documentary on how to start their own band, and attempt to encourage people to do just that. PURPOSE In order to achieve my objectives, I aimed to produce a short documentary/report similar to those that frequently air on MTV. I viewed the following programmes, which were targeted towards to my target audience specifically to see what choices of shots, effects and editing are used: - * MTV Cribs * MTV How to live like a rock star * MTV2's Gonzo * T4 on Channel 4 All of these shows were targeted towards my target audience. I paid particular attention to the MTV report "How to live like a rock star" which served to inform and give advice to a youth audience, but in a flamboyant and exaggerated style and it followed the same basic template as my short report (How to....). The report was 10 minutes long and was part of a larger show called MTV News; it was basically a short documentary made by one of MTV's presenters. I wanted my

Compare two seaside towns that I visited in March 2003. The two towns, Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on the-Naze can be located side by side on the east coast of Britain.

Introduction...........................................2 Aims and Methodology.........................4 Data Presentation and Interpretation.................8 Conclusion.......................................... 18 Evaluation.......................................... 19 Seaside resorts are towns that have been recognized along the coastlines. Seaside resorts offer a wide range of entertainment facilities in addition to their wide sandy beaches and sunny weather. Although many people live in these areas, they attract tourists from nearby regions as well. There are several popular seaside resorts in Britain, many of which are located close to large cities. Some of these resorts are Blackpool, Brighton and Great Yarmouth. There is a large variety of leisure services provided by these resorts. The main reason however, continues to be the natural features of the coast. Therefore the main activities expected in such areas include sun bathing, swimming, surfing, boating, rock climbing and quite a few other beach sports and activities. Human additions have also been made to these existing facilities in order to enhance them. So, we could expect to find people occupied in activities like shopping and entertainment. While each seaside resort is unique, most have a land use structure that is similar for all seaside resorts. Leisure and housing facilities such as promenades,

Lester Electronics Financing Alternative Benchmarking

Running head: FINANCING ALERNATIVE BENCHMARKING Lester Electronics Financing Alternative Benchmarking Elsa Hurtado University of Phoenix Lester Electronics Financing Alternative Benchmarking Corporate mergers and acquisitions happen regularly on a daily basis, it is the reasoning behind the merger that changes. Many companies merge to expand their corporations or to help a firm from failing. Although there are mergers that are successful, mergers do not go without their downfalls. Mergers can consume an incredible amount of time and money, legal and tax complications, and a big change of mixing cultures of the two companies. For these reasons, Lester Electronics, Inc. (LEI) needs to ensure that the merger with Shang-wa will be in the best interest to their firm. In order to make this decision, LEI has decided to look at other companies to compare and contrast their decisions for merging, their success and the downsides. The companies LEI chose to research are XM-Sirius, AT&T, BellSouth, CNET, Beeyu Overseas, Ltd., BHP Billiton, and Schwarz Pharma Ag. By looking at these organizations, it will give LEI a better view of successful mergers and help them ensure that the merger was at the best interest of LEI. BHP Billiton Synopsis: By reaching 55% ownership of the share register of WMC Resources Ltd, BHP Billiton now enters a compulsory acquisition stage which will

Housing Law - Homelessness has increased over the past years and now there is a major need for a reform in this area of the law.

Housing Law LW2006 J. Virdee Homelessness has increased over the past years and now there is a major need for a reform in this area of the law. Under s175 (1) of the 1996 Housing Act, 'A person is homeless if has no accommodation in the UK or elsewhere' (world-wide). There are many causes of homelessness. These include, low income, unemployment, relationship breakdown and lack of affordability. Furthermore the factor of domestic violence may also lead to a person becoming homeless, especially women. Moreover the gradual increase in the rent also adds to the problems. This creates a divide between the rich and the poor, where the poor are 'punished for being poor' as they are not financially capable of keeping up with the rising rent, thus only those who can afford the houses would be able to obtain them. The amount of official homeless people has increased over the years, this is evident in the statistics. In the 1970's 50,000 households were accepted as homeless compared to 120,000 in 1995. These statistics are however not surprising, because this was reasonably expected due to the lack of cheap, affordable housing and the decline of building of new council housing in 1970's. One of the problems with this area of law is that there is some difficulty in obtaining 'accurate' statistics number of homeless people. This is due to the reason that generally those with children

There are many types of trusts1; this assignment is about express trusts2. Lord Langdale formulated the tests for three certainties where to have a valid trust there must be the certainty of intention, subject matter and objects. It also carries out that formalities may have to be applied and it must also be constituted properly.3 Trust can be formed only on real property that can be found,4 they are also irrevocable.5 Adnan has the capacity to execute a trust as he is over eighteen and sane. Intentions are the primary focus when analysing whether a trust has been created, it can be difficult to distinguish intentions. The courts look for words of compulsion.6 In Wright,7 Lord Atkyns stated 'the words must be imperative.' Adnan's overall intention is crucial rather than the certain words he uses.8 Due to empathy, his intention is genuine, he uses the words 'You have the farm' this satisfies the criteria. At first it seems like a gift9 but because there is a 'but' his words are not a mere expression,10 it is a fixed trust. This distinction can be understood through the cases of Re Snowden and Gold V Hill. In Palmer,11 'the bulk of my estate' was not enough to amount to certainty of subject matter. Sir Arthur Hobhouse in Missorie Bank v Raynor 1882 said; 'Uncertainty in the subject matter of the gift throws doubt on the intention of the testator'. The potential subject matter

Do Children have a Priverlidged Place in Society?

To be privileged suggests that children have an advantage within a society and are favoured over others. In addition, it suggests that children live full, healthy and happy lives, that they enjoy emotional stability and varied and enjoyable learning experiences. This essay will focus on whether young children in England have a privileged place in society in the twenty first century. Since the year '2000' there have been a number of significant changes in government policy in the way young children are viewed, educated and their welfare protected, particularly in the early years phase of childhood. This essay will explore how these changes have affected the child's status within society and their quality of life by exploring how the child's needs, rights and social context are addressed. Finally conclusions will be drawn to whether government policy ensures that all young children have a privileged place in England. In England there has been a rapid development of legislation, policy and initiatives to ensure that young children receive the best possible care and services and ensure a privileged place within this society. Indeed, even the Queen's Speech 2005 prioritised our youngest citizens with no less than four points addressing the welfare of children, education and family support. (The Guardian 2005) [online] The development of policy regarding children is
