An Islamic Perspective on Divorce

An Islamic Perspective on Divorce Marriage as prescribed by God is the lawful union of a man and women based on mutual consent. Ideally, the purpose of marriage is to promote a state of harmony, love and kindness in Islam, but this is not always the case. Islam discourages divorce but, unlike some religions, does make requirements for divorce by either party. God provides general guidelines for the process of divorce with emphasis throughout on both parties upholding the values of justice and kindness in formalizing the end to their marriage (see Surah 2: 224-237 for general guidelines regarding divorce). God encourages the husband and wife to appoint arbitrators as the first step to aid in reconciliation in the process of divorce. If the reconciliation step fails, both men and women are guaranteed their right to divorce as established in the Qur'an. When a divorce is initiated by the man, it is known as talaq. The statement by the husband may be verbal or written, but once done, a waiting period of three months ('iddat) must take place in which there are no sexual relations even though the two are living under the same roof. The waiting period helps prevent hasty decisions made in anger and enables both parties to reconsider as well as determine if the wife is pregnant. If the wife is pregnant, the waiting period is lengthened until she delivers. At any point during

Hamlet's First Soliloquy

Victor Morrow 1/15/03 Hamlet's First Soliloquy Hamlet's world is crashing rapidly down over his head as the era of Old King Hamlet comes to an end and the era of Claudius comes into being. The world has not allotted Hamlet a movement to grieve before his mother and the kingdom has moved on without him. His mother has remarried to what he believes is a villain. Without being able to return to Wittenberg, Hamlet no longer has an escape from his problems. The ideals, religious beliefs, and family have betrayed. With his father dead and his mother a villain's whore, he has no one to confide in. Claudius tries to impose fatherly advice upon him, but solutions from the source of the problem do him little good. Denmark has changed drastically in government in less than a month and the threat of war is on their doorstep. His back is against the wall and life is becoming unbearable. Hamlet's soliloquy affects a tone of despair and woe. Hamlet contemplates his own death. Speaking metaphorically about his flesh melting, Hamlet wishes that suicide was not a sin. Hamlet has lost what he has to live for. The throne has been snatched from his grasp along with his mother in the same calculated swoop. He speaks metaphorically comparing about the Kingdom of Denmark being the Garden of Eden turn rank and decayed. Old King Hamlet and Claudius are as Hyperion to a satyr. Hamlet goes on to

For Roman Catholics sex is only right after marriage. Do you agree?

For Roman Catholics sex is only right before marriage do you agree/disagree In the Christian church sex before marriage is a sin. This is firstly because the act of marriage is a special link between two people and brings the people closer together, then they must consummate the marriage, this is because sex is the only way of being closer to your partner than marriage, so it can only be shared in marriage because this is an important joining of two people. Also the fact that sex is supposed to be something special between two people to show their love for each other, so if someone want to show their love for someone, they should be married before they can take the next step. Also if two people have sex then they might lead each other into a false sense of contentment, if this happens then they might marry for the wrong reason which will probably end up in a divorce or something to similar effect which will just end up in emotional damage. Also it can lead to pregnancy's which cannot be carried through because neither one of the people has the stability to care for a child, this can often happen because no contraception is 100% reliable. Also sex before marriage can increase the risk of a person getting aids, because if neither person has sex before marriage then it cannot have been sexually transmitted, but if it is a stranger then you have no idea of their sexual history,

Risk and childrens play and learning.

D6 &C1 In an adventure Park children aged 5 to 7 years are able to take many risks and set themselves challenges. An example of a play activity that could be a risk and challenge in park could be a child climbing on a climbing frame the child is setting themselves a challenge by doing the activity and the risk is them falling off the climbing frame and hurting themselves. There could be many ways of climbing the frame for example a rope, ladder or even stairs. The safest route the child could take is the stairs. However, if the child uses the rope it is more risky and provides a higher challenge for them to take. The resources needed for this challenge would be the climbing frame itself and the three different ways of climbing the frame. By having three different ways of climbing the climbing frame the child has the opportunity to make the choice of what route to take. This activity is a good way for children to test their physical abilities and develop their gross motor skills. In the classroom children can challenge themselves by trying to cut out a big picture, the challenge is whether or not they are able to cut out the picture and the risk is whether or not they are able to cut out the picture safely without hurting themselves. The resources needed to this activity would be the scissors and the picture that the children are to cut out the reason why we have to be a big

Ralph is the athletic, charismatic protagonist of Lord of the Flies.

Ralph Ralph is the athletic, charismatic protagonist of Lord of the Flies. Elected the leader of the boys at the beginning of the novel, Ralph is the primary representative of order, civilization, and productive leadership in the novel. While most of the other boys initially are concerned with playing, having fun, and avoiding work, Ralph sets about building huts and thinking of ways to maximize their chances of being rescued. For this reason, Ralph’s power and influence over the other boys are secure at the beginning of the novel. However, as the group gradually succumbs to savage instincts over the course of the novel, Ralph’s position declines precipitously while Jack’s rises. Eventually, most of the boys except Piggy leave Ralph’s group for Jack’s, and Ralph is left alone to be hunted by Jack’s tribe. Ralph’s commitment to civilization and morality is strong, and his main wish is to be rescued and returned to the society of adults. In a sense, this strength gives Ralph a moral victory at the end of the novel, when he casts the Lord of the Flies to the ground and takes up the stake it is impaled on to defend himself against Jack’s hunters. In the earlier parts of the novel, Ralph is unable to understand why the other boys would give in to base instincts of bloodlust and barbarism. The sight of the hunters chanting and dancing is baffling and distasteful to

Describe a journey by plane, train, bus or car.

Describe a journey by plane, train, bus or car. 6am. My tight eyes being forced open like breaking into a chest. The long, dark, black out curtains were drawn open by my overly excited mother. Although I had no idea what was happening, I could tell it was good. Sneakily, I stood outside my parents' bedroom, hoping to find out the news; good or bad. "We're going to Disneyland!" I heard. My still tight eyes filled with precious excitement. My heart pumped faster and faster as I burst into their room screaming with enjoyment. I had never been to Disney before, nor had I ever been on an aeroplane. 8am. Arriving at the extremely large, loud airport, something I had never done before in my life. I felt nervous. The subtle smell of cases throughout the airport caught my nose, like the new smell of a car. Person after person, I had never seen so many similar families and people in my life! Looking out every tall, thick window, as if they stood over me. There it stood. Never before had I seen such an insane, but enlightening looking structure stand before me. I felt amazed. 0am. We were stood at the end of the long, dark, mean looking runway. "Cabin crew ready for take off" the captain said. I grabbed onto my mother as the massive plane, starting shaking ferociously pushing me back into my seat. All the people rushed by like shooting stars. Before I knew it, we lifted off the ever

How has the Merry Hill Shopping Centre affected different groups of people living in the surrounding area? Case study

How has the Merry Hill Shopping Centre affected different groups of people living in the surrounding area? Shop Keeper or Market stall holder in Dudley: I think that the shop keeper in Dudley wouldn't be very happy about merry hill shopping centre because it would take all his costumers away and then soon after his shop will end up being moved to merry hill if its that important. I think it's the same for the market stall holder; they would end up shutting down because they would have no customers & they wouldn't be able to move to the shopping centre because there not an actual shop So therefore merry hill would have closed them forever. Lorry Driver working for one of the magnet stores: I think that the lorry driver wouldn't be much affected apart from it would make it much easier for him to deliver his goods because merry hill is along a main road and he wouldn't have to traipse down the small lanes. Teenagers living in suburbs of Dudley close to Merry Hill: I think that teenagers living close to merry hill will be very pleased because they have loads of things to do when there bored, like the cinema, MacDonald's and shopping. They will also be pleased because it's another place for them to 'hang out'. Disabled person: I also think a disabled person would be quite pleased because of all the facilities merry hill has to offer for example the ramps & lifts make it

Making there products desiables. The DB9 has been on the market since 2004 so has been in sales for 5 years and have only sounds around 2500 units as an average, just shows how unique they are which is why they are so special to have. The market segment the DB9 is in is the HLS which stands for 'High Luxery Sports Sector' so its main competitor will be other car companies in the same sector such as Bentley and Porche. Which is why the cars have to be priced well. Onto pricing which is an important factor when selling in the HLS, as they are selling their cars at the high end of the market the price is not that much of an issue in terms of your own company but its all about given a better car for the same price as an competitor. Which is why Aston Martin use 2 main pricing strategies: Competitor Pricing - As I talked about givng more car for the same money. Market Pricing - pricing the cars
