Hardware and Software Report.

In this report, I will be discussing what hardware, software, operating system, and how this would be benefiting the company. I will also state how I used the hardware and software, which helped the company. Once that I done, I will describe the advantages and disadvantages of the hardware and software that I used, and compare them to the hardware and software that I could have used. Definitions of hardware, software and operating system: Computer hardware typically consists chiefly of electronic devices (CPU, memory, display) with some electromechanical parts (keyboard, printer, disk drives, tape drives, loudspeakers, floppy discs) for input, output, and storage, though completely non-electronic. A package/application is a complete, self-contained program that performs a specific function directly for the user. This is in contrast to system software such as the operating system kernel, server processes and libraries, which exists to support application programs. The operating system is Software designed to control the hardware of a specific data-processing system in order to allow users and application programs to make use of it. The hardware that I used was: * Tulip monitor: low emission * Tulip CPU: E85-00970 * Tulip mouse: M-S48a * HP LaserJet 2200d * HP LaserJet 4200n * Floppy disc * Internet modem The software that I used was: * Microsoft Excel *

Identify Introduction The owner of the local village store called the Reepham shopper, which is in the market place in a rural town of Reepham around 12 miles away from the city of Norwich Which is in the south east of England. The owner of the village shop is called Daniel Jones who is an average self employed man who is very well known around the small town of Reepham, and I know him because my son works for him as a paper boy, also I am one of his close friends I play golf with him every Sunday and go to the pub with him on Tuesdays. Daniel needs my help because all of his local costumers are shopping at the supermarkets which are much bigger and have more special offers, and Daniel can't compete with these businesses and he desperately needs these costumers to come back, as it could cause the business to go bankrupt. I need to get these costumers to come back and shop a lot closer to home and see if they are satisfied with the new layout of the store. There are many new offers and Daniel is guaranteeing at least 5 half price offers a week to gain more business. Daniel also works as a part time dustbin man whenever he is not needed at the shop. The shop is situated in the centre of Reepham in the market place and is found next to a bridal wear store a near a local mini supermarket. Daniels shop and the mini supermarket get roughly the same amount of business, also in the

3a - ICT and Society This piece of writing will describe a range of technologies that I use at home and in school. Social Mobile Phones: Uses I have a mobile phone which I use to communicate. I use it for texting and calling people. My phone has Wi-Fi, Quad-band, infra-red and Bluetooth. I use my phone nearly everyday. It has messaging, games, the internet, a camera, a video recorder, music organiser, alarm diary, calendar, a contact diary, so that I don not have to remember people's number and some safety features such as a pin so that if it gets stolen it is not useable. I think that my phone is good but it is difficult to use because I does not have the internet which is a disadvantage but the advantage is it does what I need it to do. It meets these needs by allowing me to communicate and it but other things such as walkie-talkies and laptops would be able to do exactly the same thing and they have no tariffs and lower radiation. Disadvantages A phone can give you brain and head damages because of the radiation, bad eyesight; bad hearing and they are quite expensive. There are also high tariffs and while you are using one makes it harder to concentrate on other important things. Internet We use the internet for many things such as research, playing online games and downloading music. There are millions of sites and search providers that give you easy access to

Hardware and Software

Hardware and Software Required There are two main types of components required for a system to work. These are: * Hardware - The parts of a computer that you can see and you can handle; the exterior components of the computer. * Software - The actual programs that allow the hardware to do a useful job. Hardware The main components of an ICT system include the following: * Input devices - these enable the data to enter the system. This could be through keyboard, scanner, digital camera, etc. * Central Processing Unit (CPU) - the brain of the computer. This part of the hardware stores and processes data. It has three parts: ALU (arithmetic and logic unit; it performs all the arithmetic and logic operations), the control unit, and the memory. * Backing storage - consists of the disk drives, tape drives, RW-CD (read/write compact disk), RW-DVD (read/write digital versatile disk), etc. used to store data when the power is switched off. Software Software is the general name for programs that can be run on computer hardware. There are two main categories of software: operating system software and applications software. Operating systems are programs that control the computer hardware directly. The operating system I am going to choose for the new system will be Windows XP. Applications software is used to perform a specific task. Applications software varies from

2.0 Design and Creation of Logo 2.1 Analysis of Travel Logos This logo is attractive as it advertises its name in its logo and so it is a useful selling point, this is unlike other logos such as the Apple logo where there is no text. Secondly logo uses two colours and therefore it looks clean and professional and unlike other logos such as the old Fanta logo (which is cluttered and not colour coordinated). Thirdly this logo is a definite improvement for previous BA logos, such as the one released on the Queen's Birthday in 1991. However the logo hasn't been updated for just over fifteen years, certainly there have been modifications and improvements, and however BA hasn't changed it completely. A report done by The Economist shows this could be why BA's sales have been dropping gradually over the past decade. This logo represents the British based airline; Monarch. This logo uses two complementary colours, which are purple and yellow. The crown image is very clever because it matches the name of airline. The colours are used to great effect on the crown, the middle part of the crown is filled in with a golden yellow, and the two sides match the purple font. The crown is in a bold shape of an "M" so that people will notice that it belongs to Monarch Airways. It is extremely simple but also very clever and unique Ryan Air is an Irish Airline company who specialise

Computer Systems

Computer Systems There are two main functions to a computer system; The Hardware and the Software. The hardware is the name given to the part of the computer that can be touched. The hardware is the name given to all the devices that makes up the computer system. Some examples of hardware are: Input devices Central processing unit (CUP) Backing store Output devices Hardware is the term used for the parts of the computer you can touch and handle. Hardware is the name given to the devices that make up a computer system. The hardware devices are split into two groups; they are input devices and output devices. Input devices are used to get data into a system. Output devices are used to receive data from the computer. Input Devices Input devices are used to get information or data in to the computer. The ideal input device would be one that would get the information in to the computer accurately with out human intervention; it would also be quite cheap. Here are the main input devices used today: *Keyboard *Mouse *Tracker ball *Joystick *Light pen Output Output devices provide the results after processing, in a suitable form. In most cases these will be in hard copy (print out) or on a screen. Here are the main output devices used today *Central Processing Unit The Central Processing Unit (CPU) often knows as the processing Unit. The CPU turns the raw data to
