Create an IT system for my karate club.

Task Statement For my project I have decided to create a system for my karate club, which I attend. The karate club is in desperate need of an organised system, which will be able to organise the information of the students and also sort out the taking of their details. Competitions take place regularly and the instructor would like a list of the people taking part in each competition and a bill produced for each member so they pay their fees. For this project I have a real end user who happens to be the instructor at the karate club. Sub Tasks I have to firstly design my database and have to find which entities I have to add in and what tables I will need to set up. I will have to make sure that all the information my end user wants in my system is accessible. So I will also have to design queries so that there can be searches for particular data within the database without having to scroll through all the information available in every table in the database. I will also have to design reports for the queries as this makes them look more presentable and easier for the end user to understand and so the results are presented in a clearly way. So my end user can use the system a lot better without having to go through the back end of access I will have to create a front end which is known as the human computer interface. This will allow the user to simply

Task Description Dazzling DVD's is a DVD rental shop owned by Nicholas Smith, which many people visit when they want to buy or rent DVD's. The shop is situated in Ilford outside the exchange. They have many customers who would like to buy DVD's from there as they have cheap and affordable prices. The shop collects the information of the DVD's via phone calls, but they also get suppliers who come in person to give the DVD details or they get it on the web via emails. The details of the DVD's are taken: Name, age rating, release date, the barcode, the genre, the quantity and the description and the DVD. The details are taken down on a paper-based system by the receptionist. The name and age rating are important in any system to know which DVD's are allowed to be rented to which aged customer; the release date is needed so that the customer can see which DVD's have been released recently. The barcode, the quantity, the description and the genre are needed so that the suppliers can be contacted for any problems which need to be sorted out such as not the right amount has been delivered. Unfortunately, mistakes are common such as writing the wrong details because of bad communication on the phone. This can lead to big problems in the future because when the shop try and contact the supplier, they may end up calling a wrong number because of the receptionist's mistake. Sometimes,

Impact of ICT on the community

Contents ICT in Society Southall is located in a town of London borough of Ealing it is close to Heathrow airport which is one of the busiest airports in the world, which creates lots of jobs and large number of Southall residents are employed in Heathrow. Southall is quiet a small area but holds a large amount of population. Southall is one of the busiest places in England. In this area the route of communication such as, railways and roads need real improvement because at the moment they are not good enough and doesn't meet the needs of the community really well. There is also project going about trams but our community is not happy with the decision made by the Ealing Council. In Southall it is very difficult to settle down for a person who has just been to this town because there are no enough jobs for people to do and those with jobs are paid very less wages compared to national average wage. Southall also has a very low reputation is attracting the visitors to the town, that's because of the low employment rate. Basically this means that the people with business should give others a chance to work and pay them the same amount of wages like other employees are being paid in other towns and countries. This town is one of the towns in England which has most problems with public transport because there are very few buses to go around and the population is bigger if a bus

System administration report

AS Coursework Task 1: Report Plan The system administration report that I am doing will be based on a four star hotel called the Moat House. There are numerous reasons for the choice of this hotel, as it will give me a chance to find out how a hotel is managed with the aid of ICT. The Moat House operates in the commerce industry where it aims to provide a service to the community. The Moat House is suited in an ideal location close to M25; with scenic surroundings it is a matter of convenience for the customers. As the hotel industry is becoming highly competitive, the hotel aims to offer low rates and high quality service at the same time and build a respectable reputation. It operates in small area and aims to dominate the market in the area they operate. The hotel is busy through out the week, especially on Friday's and the weekends where it is fully booked. The hotel is an ideal place for weddings, parties and conferences with numerous halls and conference rooms. The hotel has also started advance bookings for Christmas and New Year parties. The hotel generates its main revenue from booking and reservations for weddings, conferences, and parties. The Moat house is attractive to a variety of businesses, ranging from small to big companies such as JCB, Argos and GEC for their conference rooms. IDENTIFY Statement of the problem Mr Ariel Sharon is the owner of a small, but very busy, independent sports' shoes store named "ShoeShop(c)". It is located in the centre of London and new and old customers are constantly popping in with questions. The most common question is "Is this shoe available in [this] size?" The sales assistants employed at the shop cannot always answer this sort of question very easily because it is very time-consuming and sometimes difficult for the assistant to quickly go and check in the storage room at the back of the shop for the shoe's availability. Currently, a shop assistant has to go to the storage room, then to the particular brand's (e.g. adidas(r)) section, and then start looking for the customer's preferred shoe model and check if the appropriate size is available. It would be even more time-consuming if Mr Ariel Sharon wanted to find out the exact number of shoes remaining for a certain model or size as the shoes would have to manually be counted by the assistant. This is unreliable as the assistant may not search adequately, and may convey the message that the shoe is not available when in fact it is. The customer would also want to know the latest price of the shoe, and the labels which have the price printed on them may have outdated prices which would most likely alter the customer's choice. What Mr Ariel Sharon really needs is

Spreadsheet for a basketball company

MS Excel Project . Identify .1. Introduction 'RoSup' is a company that organises basketball matches. It has one basketball court, which is situated in Surrey and has been operating for nearly a year. They are struggling because the methods they are using appear to be very inapt. I have been requested to undertake the problem with an attempt to introduce an easier but effective scheme, by Mrs Suprabha, the manager. .2. The Real User The actual problem is the method they are using to book seats, gather, and enter information such as customer information. They are using a paper-based system and so the process is very slow as information is slightly different every match. The employees have to keep drawing a new booking system for every match. They would have to keep counting stocks left. The other problems caused from this manual system are that the documents get lost, damaged, can prove to be very difficult in altering, mistakes due to illegible handwriting and forgetting to add or delete data. These files also take up a lot room, as they require being stored in file cabinets and finding certain data will be very much time consuming. Categorising data in lists would be a great burden. As a result, of all these drawbacks from the current scheme, the manager wants a solution that will speed up the process, which would ultimately allow them to focus on other business aspects
