Business Communication 1-) a-) A Communication process is constituted by the elements

Student: Caio Correa ID#: 202691 Teacher: Mr. James Lee Business Communication -) a-) A Communication process is constituted by the elements of communication, which are the Sender, the message sent, the language used to send it, the system, the language used to receive it, the receiver and, finally, the message received. The combination of these elements is called the communication process. The success of it will often depend on how well attuned you are to needs of the receiver. If you want to command attention, you must think on how your message will come across your target audience. b-) The barriers to a good communication process can bi listed as the following: Lack of organization, different motivations, different perceptions, empathy problems (criticising, diagnosing, ordering, threatening and logical argument). Also, defective encoding, defective medium, inappropriate environment and defective decoding. To reduce these barriers it's important to always plan your message, avoid making unfounded assumptions, make intelligent use of the code, medium and environment, use empathy, seek and give feedback, listen actively and finally, check the understanding of the message. c-) To be a good listener, it's important to put down your "guard" and to put yourself through the other's eyes. If you can't imagine yourself in the opposite situation, it's really hard to fully

Recombinant DNA is a DNA molecule artificially made from different sources. The different portions are combined into a single molecule. Genetic engineering with recombinant DNA is the re-designing of organisms at the gene level with the purpose of achieving specific goals. The first step in genetic engineering usually involves inserting a short piece of 'foreign' DNA into the DNA of a host organism. In a procedure known as gene splicing, a piece of human DNA for example may be inserted into a bacterium. The DNA ring of the bacterial plasmid is broken open to insert the human DNA. The bacterium then acquires the ability to synthesise the protein for which the foreign DNA codes. Gene splicing relies on a group of enzymes called restriction endonucleases. One of these would cut a bacterial plasmid open at a specific site that is determined by the sequence of bases in that region. These bases are a DNA code, made up of adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G) and cytosine (C). The four bases are paired on the DNA molecule in a very specific manner, A always with T and G always with C. Connecting the base pairs are alternating sugar and phosphate units, forming a structure that resembles a ladder. The ladder is three-dimensional and takes the form of two strands twisted into a long spiral known as the 'double helix'. The same enzyme will cut foreign DNA wherever an identical base

Contemporary Status of Arab Americans

Race, Ethnic and Minority Issues Arab Americans Jessica Komperda Sociology 301 Dr. Spelman November 24, 2003 History of Arab Immigration Arabs started to first immigrate to the United States between the years of 1880 and 1924. When the Immigration act of 1924 took effect, there was a dramatic decrease in Arab immigrants coming into the States. "Most immigrants in this first wave came from Arab regions of the Ottoman Empire, which controlled most of the Middle East until World War I(1914-1918)" (Encarta, 2002 "Arab Americans," ¶ 9). The Ottoman Empire was a "dynastic state centered in what is now Turkey, founded in the late 13th century and dismantled in the early 20th century" (Encarta, 2002, "Ottoman Empire ¶ 1). When these immigrants came to the United States, they soon began to look for employment. Many of them found employment as mill and factory workers, door-to-door sales, and as farmers. Overall, assimilation into the "American way" was not hard for Arabs to achieve although there were struggles present. Arab immigrants mixed well because many of them were Christians just like the Americans. (Encarta, 2002, "Arab Americans"). Even though the Immigration Act of 1924 decreased the amount of Arabs trying to immigrate to the United States significantly, it did begin to increase in the early 1950s. Unlike their early immigrant ancestors, many of them that came in

How are standard solutions prepared & how is titration carried out in industry

Ardit Cenalia | Unit 1 How are standard solutions prepared? A standard solution is a solution that the concentration is known accurately. The concentration is normally given has mol/dm3. Then to be able to find a concentration of another substance with in the solution, a standard solution will be used. While making the standard solution itself, it is important that the right mass of the substance is correctly measured. It is also important that all of this is successfully transferred to a volumetric flask; this is so that it will be used to make up the solution accurately. An acid titre is able to be used as a standard solution, after the acid tire concentration has been established, through the use of titrating against the known concentration of the alkali solution. The analysis of a chemical species is able to be accomplished by the use of standard solution. Varying concentration changes in their absorbance of light at particular wavelengths, and therefore the sample solution is compared to various known standard solution and their absorbance at certain wavelengths (this is done by using Beer’s law) can be capable of determining its concentration. Standard solutions are also used within the industry. The solutions which are used in the standard solution will undergo rigorous tests by the manufacturers; this is so that they are able to prove their accuracy, before

The heights of 16-18 year old young adults varies between males and females. My prediction is that the majority of males are taller than females.

Statistics coursework S1 Task A: Measurements The heights of 16-18 young adults varies between males and females. My prediction is that the majority of males are taller than females. I have decided to take a sample of 100 16-18 young adults from Havering Sixth Form College and measure their heights with a tape measure. My two populations will be male and females and I will obtain 50 male heights and 50 female heights. I have chosen to take a sample of 100 because small sample sizes may give inaccurate results whereas a larger sample size may be impractical and time consuming. Therefore I feel a sample size of 100 will give a efficient set of results and a meaningful conclusion could be deduced. To insure that the data I collected wasn't biased I didn't look at each persons height to ensure that the data I collected was even for both populations and within both populations. Also because height isn't affected by whether you are athletic or not or whether you eat lots or who you are friends with, the data I collected cant be bias for that aspect of my data collection and also I didn't collect my data at a modeling studio, of which nearly everyone there would be over 6ft and would make my data collection bias and unfair. So overall the data I collected wasn't bias and was accurate to use for my investigation. I decided to investigate the difference in heights between

Collision Course in Commercial Aircraft.

Nile W. Hatch Marriott School - BYU Instructions for Airbus A3XX: Developing the World's Largest Commercial Jet In this case, we will be analyzing strategic interaction between Airbus and Boeing, the two leading producers in the global commercial aircraft industry. In particular, we will be considering Airbus' proposed launch of the A3XX, their entry into the intercontinental jumbo jet segment, and Boeing's potential competitive responses to this entry. We will attempt to answer the questions: Should Airbus enter the jumbo jet segment? If so, how? And, what should Boeing do about it?1 An appropriate analysis of this situation requires the integration of a variety of tools and concepts to which you have been introduced both in this course and the rest of the MBA curriculum. In particular, you will use cashflow analyses of the different scenarios that could play out in this industry and attempt to understand which of these scenarios are more likely to occur by applying game theoretic reasoning to this situation. Based on this analysis, you will then make recommendations concerning what your team thinks Airbus or Boeing should do2. While your quantitative analysis of this situation should form a basis for your recommendation, you should certainly consider other factors you deem important (but not accounted for in the model) when you finalize your recommendation.

This essay is on vision, its malfunctions & diagnostics methods.

Vision, its malfunctions & diagnostic methods By Jaswinder Singh .0 Preface This essay is on vision, its malfunctions & diagnostics methods. The content included is concordant with the criteria listed on the specification of the institute of biophysics at 2nd Faculty of Charles University in Prague. Additional acknowledgements are mentioned under the reference section. .1 Visual acuity and its measurement Visual acuity is the measurement of the ability to discriminate two stimuli separated in space at high contrast relative to the background1; it is a quantitative measure of the ability to identify black symbols on a white background at a standardized distance as the size of the symbols is varied. It happens to be the most common clinical measurement of visual function. Visual acuity is typically measured using optotype chart for close and distant vision (snellen test). The eye which is not under test is occluded by means of instructing the subject to place an obstacle, for example a hand in front of the eye. This prevents intentional peeking, which would adversely affect the validity of the examination results. A variety of charts convenient for the patient are used, particularly in cases where a subject is unable to read the alphabet. In such cases the Tumbling E chart may be used, where the perceived letter, capital ''E'' is facing a different direction.

There are four different types of authority these are: Y Authoritarian Y DictatorialY Consultative Y Participative I will now explain these different types of authority in detail

Task 7: "Identify and explain four types of authority" There are four different types of authority these are: ? Authoritarian ? Dictatorial ? Consultative ? Participative I will now explain these different types of authority in detail. Authoritarian: In this type of authority the leader tells the group what has to be done and how to go on about it. An appropriate way to use this is when you have all the information you require for the task (there is nothing to discuss) but you have time limitations. This way of leadership is excellent to achieve your result. It gives the leader total power, which would be useful in the armed forces for example where personnel need to get used to not question orders. Positive and negative points about authoritarian: Positives: ? Can be effective in achieving task ? Improves discipline ? Time efficient Negatives: ? Cause resentment ? Could miss good ideas ? Low morale Dictatorial: This type of authority comes from a dictator; this term is at times wrongly used to refer to someone who is bossy or arrogant as a leader. A dictator has an un-restrained authority over people. Over history there have been many dictators such as, Augusto Pinochet, Sadam Hussein, Adolf Hitler, Stalin, or Mugabe. Such a leader would have the right to change laws without consulting those who would later have to abide by these laws. Dictators

The following Strategic Management plan evaluates Citigroup's competitive position and internal and external environments to determine strategic direction. Alternative strategies are then derived and chosen. The plan recommends that Citibank select to expand its insurance business to foreign markets, by focusing on online banking and the consumer demand for online financial processing. It analyzes how Citibank differentiates itself from the competition by offering a broad line of products and services and exploiting cutting edge technology to support global online banking transactions. It also explores the threats, opportunities, weaknesses, and strengths impacting Citibank's success in competing for online banking market share. Online banking has brought traditional financial functionality into Cyberspace. The Compounded annual growth of online banking since 1994 has been 80%. Worldwide, more than 100 million households now bank online. Looking ahead, usage is projected to increase to 50+ million U.S. households. Worldwide, the total is expected to triple to 300 million or more households (Online Banking, 2003). Internet Banking enables financial institutions to market and sell new products, increase their end user base and build longer lasting relationships. Launching online banking services requires minimal demand on the banks existing infrastructure and resources. With

Testing Hooke's Law

Testing Hooke's Law By Daniel Bowman 11CU Introduction Hooke's law is when forces applied to a solid object and it can result in extension or compression. Hooke's law is able to predict how a stretchable object would behave when a force is applied to it. Planning I aim to show how much force strips of black bin liners (polythene) will take before it reaches its elastic limit and obey Hooke's law. I will also investigate if the length of the strips can alter the results, keeping the width the same. The main suitable equipment I will need to use may include the two different types of plastic cut at different lengths and 100g masses to test the extension. I will obviously need other basic apparatus to carry out the investigation. My experiment will last until each strip of plastic splits, so I cannot at this time state how many masses I will require. Polythene The plastic I have chosen to use has many uses. Polythene is used to manufacture bottles, carrier bags, buckets, machine parts and bowls. This suggests to me that thickness of the plastic can affect the strength, as a plastic carrier bag is not as strong as a plastic bucket. I also no that there are two types of polythene: High density, which is rigid and hard, and low density, which is tough and flexible. Machine parts are generally made from high-density polystyrene whilst bottles are made from the
