Working in a business environment

Outcome 1: Understand how to respect people at work. .1 Describe what is meant by diversity and why it should be valued. Diversity means that people are valued for their differences, meaning that they are placed in a job that is well suited to them, creating a more productive workforce. An example of this would be having a receptionist that has a bubbly personality, who is always smiling and willing to meet new people, as opposed to a grumpy, antisocial person who does not want to be there. It should be valued as it means everyone can produce their best work and people will work harder at a job they enjoy and are good at. .2 Describe how to treat other people in a way that is sensitive to their needs. To be able to be sensitive to other peoples needs, first you have to work out and decide what their need is, this could be either obvious or less obvious, for example they may use wheelchair. Once you have understood their needs, you need to work out and understand how to treat them. Carrying on with the use of a wheelchair, the employee should not be treated any differently than other employees in the sense that they should all have the same opportunities for progression in the workplace as others, however, to aid them on a day to day basis, it may be polite to hold open a door for them, or ensure that there is ample parking room in place. .3 Describe how to treat other

Diversity should be respected and valued because not everyone is completely the same even in the example categories; they are not the same as everyone else. Some people like to eliminate what is dissimilar. Our opinions can lead to environmental problems such as violence and hatred because of diversity being a key ingredient to a good and safe environment. Everyone in the workplace is treated equally. Every individual has a unique something to offer and this can help the company. Diversity should be valued because without diversity, the company or the people at the work environment wouldn’t have knowledge on other cultures this can be helpful to the company as it opens the company or people to experience a different perspective other than the usual culture. Diversity should be valued because in case a unlawful discrimination may cost the company if

It is also highlighted that being environmentally conscious will be more beneficial for businesses on a long term basis. The aim of this report is to help decision makers in the travel and transport industry in their further decisions balancing appropriately between giving priority to environmental issues and making bigger profits over spoiling the environment. Human Impact on the environment

Human Impact on the Environment Both graphs show a positive correlation which means there is a strong relationship between the rises in global temperature to the level of carbon dioxide in the air. It shows from the year 1800 - 2000 the air temperature has increased from -0.1°c to 7°c. This is an important change for the earth's average temperature, although it does not seem like much. The graph is varied where by between the years 1940 to 1980, it decreases and then increases, but the main trend it is that the global temperature is increasing. The second graph, which shows the rise in carbon dioxide, definitely confirms that there is a link between air temperature and carbon dioxide levels in the air. Because the rise in carbon dioxide, creates a greenhouse effect which forms an external layer around the earth, this prevents any of the earths heat to escape, the more this layer thickens the more it will be a disadvantage to the environment. From the year 1880 to 2000, there has been an increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. As you can see on the bar chart above, there has been a major decrease of the thickness of ice in different parts of the arctic sea and in some parts; it has almost reduced half its original size. For example in Canada Basin the thickness of the ice was 3.5 between the years 1958 - 1976 and reduced to 2.1 between the years 1993- 1997. if this

External influences Economy Interest rates Most businesses will need to borrow money. The interest rate will affect how much it costs

External influences Economy Interest rates Most businesses will need to borrow money. The interest rate will affect how much it costs a business to borrow money. If the interest rate is high the money a business owes is more than before. A 20% interest rate rise would affect Cadbury's; they would have to pay extra money towards the loan. This too would affect Sainsbury's in the same way. Any interest rates that go up will affect a business because the business needs to make up the costs and the only way to do this is to higher the prices of their service or products. The company might have to borrow more money to pay for the interest rate going up. Competition Competition is where rival businesses aim their products at the same customers and try to win and keep their custom. Sainsbury's main competitors are tescos, Asda and Morrison's. They all sell food and household goods. Asda could sell more food than them so Sainsbury's would get less customers, Cadbury's main competition is Masterfoods, coca cola, Walkers and Rowntrees. If Cadbury in the next year didn't release any more chocolates or sweets and rowntrees released different sweets even though people would still buy Cadburys old ideas they would buy rowntrees new products. This way Cadburys would loose money and they would loose customers buying their products to the other companies. If Sainsbury's had a dyer

How do humans affect the environment?

Tuesday, 08 May 2007 How do humans affect the environment? The condition of today's environment has been affected by many factors, some of which are positive, which benefit the environment, while other effects on the environment are negative meaning they damage or cause harm to the environment. One factor, which affects the environment, is humans. The negative ways, which we affect the environment are, through building, farming, pollution, and quarrying. However, there are some positive effects on the environment caused by humans such as, the conservation of endangered species, protection of the o-zone layer, and the conservation of the earths resources. This essay therefore will be set out into two main parts. The first of these two parts will discuss how humans have a negative effect on the environment; this will focus on the issue of pollution. Secondly, I will discuss the positive effects, which we have on the environment; this section of the essay will discuss conservation and the protection of the ozone layer. I will then conclude this essay by giving my personal view on how humans affect the environment and whether the overall effect is negative or positive. As, mentioned above there are many negative ways in which we as humans negatively affect the environment. One-way which we harm the environment is through our polluting. Polluting is a very important issue when
