The telephone one of the best.

The telephone one of the best. The telephone is one of the most used inventions ever invented. It is used world wide connecting people from one side of the world to the other side. They send speech over long distances by using electric currents, laser light or radio waves. The telephone was invented in 1876 by a Scottish engineer called Alexander Graham Bell who lived from 1847-1922. He had been working in the United States on improving the telegraph, which used Morse code which used dotes and dashes to send the messages to other users but it was limited, but so were the early phones. By 1880, the first public telephone system were in use, although they had hardly any subscribers. Early telephones were connected by wires to a telephone exchange, where operators would connect the two wires by hand which was very hard when the invention got bigger and more people were using it. The invention of automatic switches in the 1890s allowed the exchanges to connect calls without going though an operator, where there could be problems or mistakes which all lost time. Modern telephone systems change the varying electrical signal of older phones into a digital signal made up of electrical pulses that are handled by computerized exchanges, getting rid of the old fashioned mechanical ones of lots of people playing with wires. Information Retrieval tools. I have used a database to carry out my searches. I used Emerald because it was the best tool to use as it offers Boolean, limiting search, and proximity.

Coursework 2: Information retrieval tools Description of the Search Strategy I have searched for the NHS (National Heal Service) because I know it is a public sector that gives out allot of information. Most of the information is important and can be very helpful. I also searched for this term so that I can improve my knowledge on how to prevent illnesses for example the flu. I have used a database to carry out my searches. I used Emerald because it was the best tool to use as it offers Boolean, limiting search, and proximity. I have combined these terms using many functions that were available on Emerald. These were Boolean logic, using the AND, or OR, limiting the search, and phrase search. These functions allowed me to broaden my search and helped me to narrow the information. I have used all of these functions so that I can get a really good quality of information that will help me with my study. The only reason why I narrowed and broadened my search was to get a good authority of the material. Having a good source of authority (quality) will help me to receive maximum quality of information that is available. Phrase search is a good function but by on its own, it is not effective. This is the reason why I used phrase search with the other functions so the results would be high in quality. I have also searched for terms in particular fields for example, I have

Compare and Contrast Major console platforms

Kyle Walton AO1 – Compare and contrast major console platforms One of the major console platforms is Sony’s Playstation. Sony offers you many different ‘unique’ features such as six-axis controller, free PSN and blu-ray. Six axis controllers is a feature of the Playstation where you can use the controller as a steering wheel for example. The six-axis controllers cost £30 when new as it was a new technology, the battery of the controllers lasted for 30 hours of continuous gaming from full charge. Blu-ray discs are better quality than HD disc and have a capacity of 128 GB which means the PS3 exclusive games are larger than other console games. Although PSN is free it isn’t the best online gaming service there is that goes to Xbox live. The biggest PSN problem is that the service was hacked in 2011 and this proved that it is insecure and people will not be willing to pay. Another major console platform is Microsoft’s Xbox 360 these have features such as Xbox live Sky player and Zune. Zune is a film and music player where you can watch and listen to music from the internet. Sky player allows you to watch movies and programmes from sky on your Xbox without a Sky box. But you have to have a subscription to sky. And Xbox live is what allows you to play online with your friends on your Xbox although you have to pay for Xbox live it is better than PSN as there is more
