implementation of an ITC system

Identification Problem There is a company called BlackBurry's, who supply home insurance. They have thousands of costumers all over the UK. Every year they have to send out a renewal confirmation letter to all of their clients, stating that they need to renew their membership details. Each year they ask a different group of staff, to write the letter another group of staff to post then off and another group to file all of the reconfirmation mails which have been returned back to the company from their clients. After they have been received they all need to processed, according to the answer in the letter. They have a team of 40 members of staff, who work on creating and building the databases. They have to meet every day to work on this together, and it is very inconvenient, as they all have to work on it at the same time. They have 14 sectaries, which have to sit by the phone all day. They take phone messages, and relay them to staff in the complex, arrange meetings between senior staff and potential clients and to relay messages from phone calls. The only way in which BlackBurry's Ltd are able to contact clients or visa versa is by phone fax and post. These are the only forms of communication, and they are extremely inefficient, especially for urgent problems and issues. The End User is: BlackBurry's Ltd., 33, The Ridgeway, Stanmore, Middlesex, H7 4BE, England

The aim of this task is to produce a report for the managing director of Chello Hotel to show how communication methods are used to transfer information.

Task 2 Introduction The aim of this task is to produce a report for the managing director of Chello Hotel to show how communication methods are used to transfer information. The power of technology is ever improving the amount and effectiveness of today's communication. The outcome of this task will provide the managing director an insight of the ways to include or improve the communications used within the Hotel. Within this report, each communication talked about will be in a separate paragraph with its own heading and possible subheadings for guidance through the report. Each separate paragraph, I will explain what the communication is and examples of where it is used in everyday life and at the end, I will explain possibilities of the method's use within the Hotel. Written communication Written information is text based. It entails using words either on a page or screen to communicate meaning. However, this information can only be shown in one language; this means that it will only be understood by people who know the language. An advantage of written communication is that readers of the information can read at their own pace. This is helpful if any information has been lost as readers can then reread any sections to make sure that they have understood and taken in the information. Examples of Written Communications: * Text message * Email * Newspaper articles

An Investigation into the Use of Control Technology in the Car Industry

An Investigation into the Use of Control Technology in the Car Industry The Mustang's body area encompasses 355,000 square feet. It also utilizes 145 robots to perform welding for structural integrity, material handling for assembly, and sealer application for water leak prevention. Six major assembly/welding lines, along with three subassembly and buildup areas, are required to complete a Mustang body. There are three subassembly buildup areas: front structure framing and respot where a front end is created, rear pan assembly and respot, and the bodyside subassembly. The six major assembly/welding lines are: ) The press line which joins the rear pan, center pan and front end to create an underbody. 2) The underbody respot and clamp line which joins the bodysides to the underbody. 3) The welding bucks which provide dimensional and weld integrity. 4) The roof line 5) The IBM respot line 6) And the closure line which assembles the doors, hood and rear deck lid to the vehicle. A perception vision system is also used to verify dimensional quality. The last process before a unit leaves the body area is metal finishing, where metal surface imperfections are removed before delivering a body to paint. PAINT SHOP: The paint department provides four functions to the finished product. The four functions are: the application of the phosphate/e-coat coatings, body sealer,

Value Creation Models

Value Creation Models The Value Shop and the Value Network are two additional models of value creation. Managers need to re-think some familiar strategic insights. The world has changed. From 1960 to 1999 manufacturing companies' share of GNP in the US, as well as its workforce, fell from 30 per cent to 15 per cent, with the consequence that such businesses are now a minority of the S&P500. Banks, transportation, building, healthcare, research pharmaceuticals and other services companies have taken over. Strategic models of the world, however, have not changed. When managers develop strategies for their companies, they still use the tools and language of the manufacturing organisation - most commonly the concept of the Value Chain (see Figure 1 - see PDF or print), introduced by Michael Porter. His seminal work, Competitive Advantage: Creating and Sustaining Superior Performance, (Free Press 1985), argued that you could create sustainable competitive advantage by tailoring your Value Chain to your competitive strategy. A large number of prescriptions for good strategic management were developed. The question managers now need to ask themselves is where these strategic prescriptions come from - and whether they still are valid. Does the Value Chain accurately portray value creation in the new firms of the S&P500, and should managers of these firms follow the standard

An Investigation into communications systems in a real business or organisation.

Ben Jones An Investigation into communications systems in a real business or organisation Scenario: Choose an existing business or organisation & investigate the system of communication already in place: * Internally * Externally I am to assess & evaluate how good this system is & highlight any problems that present themselves. I am then to make recommendations as to how they can improve their system by using more ICT. Introduction In this report, I am to investigate into a business & the business communications systems that they employ. This will include internal business communications (i.e. between management & employees) as well as their external communications methods. From this, I must evaluate how good the current communications systems are before suggesting problems with it and how to overcome them. Then I will make recommendations to how they could improve their current systems. This may include changing the ways in which they use the equipment they have, or suggesting other communications medium. I have chosen to research into a manufacturing company, Handles & Fittings Ltd. (HAF). They are leaders in the designing, manufacturing, and distribution of architectural ironmongery, bathroom accessories & electrical fittings. Although UK-based, they market worldwide. Stephen George founded handles & Fittings Ltd. in 1980, and it has grown considerably in the last

The Act places a duty on the employer/organisation to take all practicable steps and precautions in order to provide a working environment that is safe and free from health hazards. report for organisation

REPORT Halifax letter Purpose: The first document is from Halifax bank which I have received from them telling me about saving services and some other details as well. The purpose of the Halifax letter is to give information and details about an appointment that I made. The letter confirms that I made an appointment because two weeks ago I went to their branch in the moor for an interview but unfortunately they kept telling me to wait and wait for about an hour despite I had a class to go to. After that the manager came to me to apologise about the mistake that happened by a member of staff as it was his first day in the branch so I wanted to make sure that something like that will never happen again when I come next time, so I asked him to send me a letter home confirming the date, time and the person that am going to meet. Layout/appearance: The layout appearance doesn't look professional to some extent because there are massive blank areas in the letter which could make the layout appearance look poor. The background and foreground are not colourful and this could make the letter look less interesting and less attractive as there are huge white blank spaces. The layout of this letter is not well structured because as you can see, it's got just two short paragraphs and each of these two paragraphs are written in three lines or less. System Analysis and Design Assignment

SYSTEM ANALYSIS & DESIGN ASSIGNMENT Task 1 - The System Life Cycle What is Systems Analysis? Systems analysis is the process of investigation and existing system - usually manual - to discover how it works and what the problems are. And then to design a new improved system, usually involving computers (hardware and software) and implementing the changes. This is so that it will provide a faster, cheaper, easier to use and more efficient system. The analyst must be a good communicator, capable of obtaining information from existing employees without becoming an annoyance. People often feel threatened when re-organisation takes place. Those who are likely to be affected like to be involved and kept informed of any changes. Stage 1 - Problem Identification The user (usually a department i.e. Sales) will recognise that there is a problem with the information that they are currently using. The problem might be some of the following: * The data is not available * Data is available only after a large clerical exercise, performed manually * Data is obtained too slowly * Data is not detailed enough or is in the wrong format * The present system is too costly to maintain * New legislation may require access to new information * New technology may make possible what was previously impossible * Large volumes of data require repetitive processing * All of the above. If the
